How long have you been into VS?: uh. since like. 2010? 2009-2010 around that era

one of the producers ive been looking around on YT finally got some of their songs added to the lyric wiki which im super exited abouttt
also only semi related, but kenshi doing the opening for chainsaw man is So. <333. the way that i could still tell exactly who it was without any synth. it just sounds so familiar. hearing a miku cover of it genuinely made me cry lmao

Couple MIKU EXPO updates...

2023 VR is going to be on November 12th. It's going to be streamed through YouTube and Twitch, with YouTube also having the VR version of the concert available. I believe there'll also be a Digital Stars portion being streamed, too?

And in 2024...

The World Tour Series begins with MIKU EXPO 2024 North America, celebrating the 10th anniversary, with a whole number of locations and dates from April through May. https://mikuexpo.com/na2024/ Seems like Crunchyroll is sponsoring, and giving presale ticket access to Crunchyroll Premium members.

Yamaha is trialling a VOCALOID beta-STUDIO to explore expansion of voice synthesis, and ways of implemented new technologies with help from creators. It's application only, and comes with a handful of different voicebanks, of which the ones that seemed most notable/got a lot of discussion were the UTAUs Gekiyaku and Kazehiki, which was pretty interesting to see.

Meant to post over the last weekend, but been a hectic one...

So, we had MIKU EXPO VR, I quite enjoyed it~ Thought the song list was an interesting one, even if it was maybe a little short (but that's down to how the crowdfunding went). Good to see everyone get both a solo song and a duet. Missed out on the actual VR part as the video was gone by the time I had access to the VR setup...

And surprise of the morning... GUMI is getting a SynthV VB! By the looks of it, no major outfit change (just different colour eyes and goggles?), and I've not listened to any of the demos yet, but interested in hearing how she differs from her other VBs.

I think there's been a bunch of characters moving over recently? I believe the Kamitsubaki group are slowly getting SynthV VBs, as well as the two Bandori ones... I continue to cross my fingers for IA SynthV, haha~

What's this, a long overdue post? To start, let's have a small roundup/refresher...

The US leg of MIKU EXPO happened! A few concerns here and there, but seen a lot of people who attended managed to have fun with it. Europe section begins in late October. I was part considering going to the London one, but do struggle with the concert sort of environment, so sending my partner to have fun in my place, haha.

Game-wise has been fairly quiet - Planet of Wonders dropped on both Steam and Xbox/PC. I found it a fun time, did rebuy on Steam and work through all the achievements. Can't recommend it for the full price/even the 20% sale, without going in with the knowledge that it is essentially a wrapped up minigame collection. The story is somewhat cute and sweet, though only really lasts a few hours. KAMITSUBAKI CITY ENSEMBLE, a rhythm game based on the KAMITSUBAKI girls (both the virtual and their human versions) releases at the end of August, on Steam, Switch and PS (and mobile too, I think?). This will probably be a fun time. The 15th anniversary of the first Project DIVA is tomorrow (the 2nd), but probably not expecting anything for it.

VB updates/releases... Did we already mention the VYs getting AI.VOICE VBs? And human designs, too, which is interesting. More Bandori based SynthVs inbound, miki and Kiyoteru joining SynthV. VOCALOID has had some odd VBs here and there, mostly of the silhouette series.

And the reason I thought to post... Crypton, while announcing updates to the available packages for their current Piapro Characters range (Cubase now bundled as the DAW and Miku and Rin/Len V4xs getting their English VBs bundled with the Japanese ones rather than continuining being available separate) also said that they'll be announcing "new products" on August 1st. I feel like this'll be at least one (but could be all) of the non-Miku Piapro Characters finally getting their NT VBs announced/released.

How long have you been into VS?: ive known of it and always appreciated the fanbase from afar for over a decade, but i only just started getting into it myself a few months ago :p
Other: i am really looking to get into some of the male vocal synths! i love len but only found a few songs with him that i like, so i really appreciate recommendations! i dont know much so if theres any lesser known synths, songs, mvs, or whatever that you think people should know about please lmk!

Favorite producer: Seiko-P, Kaoling, OSTER project, halyosy, Mitchie M, wanopo, and Nem all come to mind, though once again there's definitely some others; I don't think I've heard any one producer's entire catalogue, but I really enjoy what I have heard
How long have you been into VS?: I became a fan somewhere in the early months of 2012, so about 12 years now. Then, back in 2021 I purchased the Kagamines' V4 voicebanks, so I've had the software itself for about 3 years. I haven't figured out how to go about the actual songwriting process yet, but it's been fun to at least practice tuning them and such so far <3 I really should get back to that sometime soon, it's been too long

i am really looking to get into some of the male vocal synths! i love len but only found a few songs with him that i like, so i really appreciate recommendations! i dont know much so if theres any lesser known synths, songs, mvs, or whatever that you think people should know about please lmk!

thank you! i guess i dont really have any preferences, im open to anything including duets :3 the only len songs i have in my playlist right now are bring it on and a ponponpon cover, but i really need more, i like his voice so much T-T

- Relics of Cloud (yanagi-P - Featuring some Rin/Meiko background vocals; the Len version of this song is actually a cover, but it apparently became so popular compared the original Miku/Meiko version that it seems to be recognized as the "main" version 👀)
- The Star Maker (MazoP)
- Free (AVTechNO! - Duet with Luka; it features her quite a bit more, but Len does have a couple of parts here as well, hopefully enough to count it on the list. Apparently a version featuring Miku's vocals instead of Len's came after it, but I've only heard the Luka/Len original, which is referred to as the "LENmix")

Also, Giga-P and Orebanana-P did a cover/remix of Electric Angel using the Kagamines, so I just have to give a shoutout to that, too~

Quite a few different styles of music in that list, hopefully you find something there that stands out to you if you decide to give them a listen/haven't heard them already <3

I don't recall how many of the official videos I've seen for all these songs, but IIRC the Vocaloid Wiki gave a flashing lights warning for at least Buraikku Jikorizer and Remote Control's videos, so I thought I should mention that here just to be safe
