AuroraClan began with a single kit. A black kit with a large heart named Raven. She was born to a pair of rogues. She grew up learning to survive in the dangerous mountains of the north. When she was 14 moons old she began to have dreams. Voices would call to her, seeming to come from a crystal hidden in a large cave. Raven merely thought these were dreams but after losing her family to an avalanche when she was 20 moons, she decided to seek out this crystal. She needed to restart her life and what better way than to leave on an adventure of sorts. When she was 24 moons, the voices became clear to her. They were calling her name. Telling her to follow the lights in the sky. That night she saw them for the first time . The lights of the aurora borealis. Each night after that she followed their light until she came to a pair of mountains. The twin mountains. The lights seemed to dance around them. Climbing the mountains she found her cave. And inside, the crystal. At this point she was 30 moons old. Raven was overcome with a need to touch her nose to the crystal's base. The second she did, she had the sensation of leaving her body. She opened her eyes to find herself on top of the mountain. The lights of the aurora borealis appeared to flow down the sky, twisting and turning until they formed a pure silver cat in front of her. Raven took a step back in shock.
"I am Lightheart, of a clan of warriors long forgotten." The cat stated lifting their head. "We have called you here for an important task." He declared. Raven was confused.
"We?" She questioned. Suddenly a burst of light appeared next to him and rows upon rows of cats appeared.
"We." Lightheart confirmed. He then preceded to tell her about the origin of cats, the warriors and how they were the ancestors of clans that had long since vanished. And that they wanted her, Raven, to create a new clan that would thrive. The cats in these areas needed a clan to call home, they told her. And they had decided that Raven would be the first leader of this clan.
"How do I do that?" She asked, curious once they finished explaining.
"By first becoming a warrior." Lightheart declared, stepping forward until his nose brushed Ravens' forehead. She felt a surge of energy.
"From this day forward, you are Ravenshadow. You must prove yourself worthy of the title of leader and fulfil a task for us." He declared. The newly named Ravenshadow nodded.
"What do I need to do to earn my 9 lives?" She asked with determination. Lightheart seemed to smile in acceptance.
"You must find where the clan will live, and remove the threat that exists there, without using violence." Lightheart stated in a cryptic manner. Ravenshadow nodded, confused but determined.
"I will." She declared. Lightheart nodded, and Ravenshadow woke up in the crystal cavern.
Ravenshadow searched for an entire moon until she found a hidden pathway in-between two mountains. She followed it until a clearing, surrounded by rock and filled with caverns. It was hidden, well protected, and had plenty of space. It was perfect. But what threat could be present? Suddenly she heard yipping. Hiding behind a rock, Ravenshadow looked out as a mother fox appeared, carrying a. Behind her followed two more. This was the threat, a family of foxes. Ravenshadow understood why violenc was not the answer. She had not intention of arming kits, no matter the species. She would have to find another way to make the foxes leave. Ravenshadow left to come up with a plan.
As she watched the foxes for a few days, she noticed that the moon's light causes her shadow to become enlarged. This gave her an idea. The next night, she waited until the foxes were relaxed. She then sprung out from behind a rock, but remained in the cover of the rocks around her. Her shadow was visible and it looked five times her normal size. She began to hiss and growl as menacingly as she could. The foxes panicked. The mother was more worried about getting her kits to safety than keeping the den. The family fled. Ravenshadow nodded as they left but felt worried. She followed the foxes quietly. After another two days, the foxes settled in a new den that was just as safe as the last. Ravenshadow was satisfied. Her camp was secure and the fox kits were unharmed and had a new safe home with plenty of prey nearby. Happy, Ravenshadow returned to the cave the crystal cave.
"Well done." Lightheart greeted Ravenshadow as she returned to the cliff in her dreams. "You have proven yourself. Step forward." He stated. Ravenshadow did as he bid. He touched his nose to her forehead again. "With this life, I give you compassion. May you use it to know what must be done yet never forget the worth of others." He stated. A second cat, then a third came up, until the final 9th. Ravenshadow received their gifts of loyalty, courage, patience, determination, cleverness, judgement, strength, and lastly creativity.
"From this day forward you will be known as Ravenstar. Lead your clan well. Now name them." He stated proudly.
"My clan will be called AuroraClan, after the lights from which we all come." Ravenstar declared.
