One thing that would be a interesting twist would be to have multiple rooms (threads). A ball can have multiple rooms, no? :3 One for people who can be on all the time and RP, and one for people like me who might only be able to get on for a tiny bit at 2 AM due to working two jobs. The ponies could move from room to room (thread to thread) depending on the activity of the person RP'ing them. Just a weird thought.
