There are several different ways to find PoGo friends. Pokemon is such a huge franchise and there are so many Discord servers, webpages, forums all around the world, so I just search for random stuff on Google.
Although there are at least two websites specifically dedicated to just PoGo friend codes *haha*

Unfortunately we don’t allow players to exchange GO friend codes here. This is because of the location tags that are attached to gifts, which breaks CS’s rules on sharing personal information ^^

Also trading does exist but only in regards to Pokemon (so items and candies can’t be traded), and only if you’re within a short distance of your trading partner.

I highly recommend finding your area's pokemon go discord! I just search *city/state name* pokemon go discord server and see what comes up, and that usually starts me up onto something. It's a lot easier coordinating raids via discord, but I know it's also something that has existed on telegram. I've never used telegram, so I can't attest.

The Silph Road has a server that has channels organized by area- it's a good start to finding some servers you might need.

There are sites out there where people post their friend codes and add others who have posted them. I used those when there were tasks that required sending out/receiving a lot of gifts. You can find them by just googling "pokemon go friend codes", but obviously be aware that you'd potentially be sharing your location with strangers. There's also some that allow you to filter the codes by country, so if that's something you might want to be careful with, you can always add someone from the other side of the world, or just a random far away country. ^^

• Arrival of some Pokémon originally discovered in the Kalos region

Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Alola, and Galar have all been seen in Pokémon GO so far. But on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, you’ll also begin to see Pokémon originally discovered in Kalos, the region where Mega Evolution was first discovered!

Ahhhh I am so excited!! I’ve been waiting so long for sylveon and now I will get a chance to finally get one yay! Or at least I think so because I think sylveon is from kalos region. But anyway I’ve been saving my shiny eevee for months hoping sylveon is introduced eeeee
