Does anyone have characters whose names are puns/relate to the character in some way?
Here are the ones that I have:
TomareTomare is the command form of stop in Japanese, so I think it's pretty clear from his design why this is his nickname. His actual name (Akioma Kuri) is the name of my favorite robot, but doesn't relate to Tom at all really (I didn't even name the robot, he came with the name).
HebiroHebi means snake in Japanese and ro is an ending used with names, so his name is pretty straightforward too.
HotaruHotaru means firefly in Japanese and the character always carries a lantern which makes me think of fireflies.
MaxfieldMaxfield is partially robotic and Maxfield is the name of the robot that the robotics team at my school entered in a competition last year.
RomanRoman's name is probably the trickiest to understand. First of all, you'd need to know more about him as a character, it would be more difficult to figure out from just his appearance. It's a reference to 2/3 plays (I say 2/3 since one of the plays is referencing another). One of the plays is modern and the other two are classic, they are ones that most people have read, but I don't think the pun is too obvious. At least, I'd really rather it not be.
I have more, but the rest are more minor characters that I'm not actively using for anything. I also have one unintentional pun name that I'm thinking of changing since while I really like the character's name, I don't really think it's an okay pun to be making. I generally don't like using pun names/ones that relate to the character, but those are often the first ones that I think of and I set them as temporary names then never come up with better ones.
I'm selling characters on dA
here if anyone's interested.
I'm also holding an art contest
here with Rares List prizes. If anyone is not interested in entering with the current grand prize but would be interested if I changed it to a Red Toxic, please PM me.
