I have a question, as I've seen a few around, but are characters that are literally animal forms of anime characters actually aloud, because isn't that like copyrighted material? ^^;;
like @Tyki-Pon's new character.. He's literally an animal form of Uta from Tokyo Ghoul
I hope I'm not offending anyone, but I'm just confused ono;;;

anime based charature fall under fan art wich is why it can be consider fine. they only time they will comme after if your using it to make money off of or using the whole charature for something. its just like the ponysonas. mlp is copyrighted but there are a lot of people with pony charatures. if it was a hug deal you wouldn't see ponysonas or fan made oc based on anime charatures or based of anime itsself.

The big difference here is that people with My Little Pony characters will credit the original artist person thing. Same with most fan characters. At least I'm pretty sure they'll say something like "[series/whatever] not mine!!!" or say like
"Design is mine
[series whatever] by [whoever]"

no not really they make it and post it and makes suitswith them. they may say that once and never again. even withpeople who do art of there sonas dont postthat

only the ones you have seen i can give you a few cases were pony adopts or fan made ponys have not been given credit. not everyone credits or even does it right. hint to why the caaa thread has the rule (give credit to artist)


edit plush its not a big deal unless your calming the whole character or mass producing it and making it you main income. thats when they will come after you. a couple fan base charatures is no big deal to them. i have looked into copy right in this area so i kind of know what im saying
thats why some artist wont do fan art (of the anime or involing anime people.) because art there maine income. and suit makers usally wont take on pokemon and oc along that nature cause thats there maine income
its just about if your making money off there stuff is when they get mad

well, I mean, with a series that big and well known....I don't know many people at all who could look at a MLP character and not know they were a MLP pony; of course, ruling out anthros and such. it's pretty common sense from anyone who looks at it that it's an MLP, whether the series in credited or not.

this isn't my argument though and that's all I'll say heh

I don't really care if they have an Uta based Mako. I couldn't care less, actually.

What I do care about is them not crediting tg at least once. It's not like it's a hard thing to do.
Or maybe I'm just bitter because when I first mentioned it on dAm they deleted the entire thing and reuploaded it saying they had originally "posted the wrong one."

Making a fan made character for a series is one thing (people make OCs ALL the time, and that's what Ponysona's are, OCs with the creators original design).

Making a character that is literally an EXISTING character just put onto another species ( aka making Uta into a Mako, but still having it be Uta, same name, personality, basically same design as much as it can be from a human to a shark-wolf ) is another. The design does not belong to Tyki, but to TG's mangeka, who created Uta in the first place ;w;

Plus, the person that designed/drew Tyki's character was PAID for it, so there was actual physical money involved and an income made by this, hence why there really needed to be credit given to the TG mangeka. There's nothing that says you can't do this, but credit NEEDS to be given where credit is due, that is all Aki is saying uwu
