I have made 2 discoveries!
1. Death of a Bachelor -
"I'm walking the long road, watching the sky fall"
Sarah Smiles -
"I was fine, just a guy living on my own, waiting for the sky to fall"
hmm....
2. (this one is pretty well known)
Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes -
"No body wants to hear you sing about tragedy!"
Brendon be like - "Woah, woah, I write sins
not tragedies!"

Honestly, Brendo's obsession with sin and his positive connotation of sinning is a little off putting to me and I find his use of Bible terminology a little juvenile. The fact that he knows sin is bad but constantly feels the need to refer to it as a celebration just doesn't really sit well with me.
It's a stark contrast to the Bible vernacular and allusions Ryan uses in earlier song like Build God, Then We'll Talk and I Write Sins Not Tragedies which focus around scandals, are cynical and condescending, and sound more elevated because of the mix of other references thrown in the songs. "Give us this day our daily does of faux afflictions" while still just as hateful and mocking as "All you sinners stand up sing Hallelujah'" is so much more poetic and parodying a passage of scripture encompasses the obsession and mockery of sin a lot better than flat out calling things sins or people sinners.
It's a little funny to me- it seems like this new record is a revamp of Fever, what with the sin references and the red and black suit vaguely resembling the I Write Sins Not Tragedies suit but after growing musically for ten years, the best Brendo can do is incorporate the word sin into things. Ryan's instagram posts are more poetic than that. Even if I think Brendo's allusions are lame recently, I gotta say, the nostalgia in his music lately is positively wonderfully haunting. It's beautiful.

ive always had a feeling it was bc of growin up mormon but just abt every panic! album has at least one song that has a refrence to sinning/religion
like atm i feel like perhaps the new album will be like how vices was with the steampunk but with the religion imagery? like w bden in the confession box in the cutscenes of hallelujah? idk i feel it
another thing that annoys me v much is the amount of panic! songs abt cheating!! like!! no!! cheating is not healthy or edgy or hot or cool!! cheating is a terrible thing!!!!! pls!!!
like too rare to live too rare to die had like,, 3 songs abt cheating or abt sleepin around and,, literally i hated it. casual affair is one of my least favourite panic! songs bc it's literally glorifying cheating and sneakin around with other people.
also i have a question;;
what do u guys personally think ms jackson is abt?
i was arguing with my friend today and she said it sounds like bden is in love with a woman who sleeps around or is unfaithful who doesnt love him back and hes like talkin about how shes always running around with other men but hes still in love with her even tho shes unfaithful (out the back door, damn, but i love her anyway)
do u guys agree?? u feel it????

am in the only one NOT bothered by all the cheating songs? i mean, i don't really think he's saying "go have an affair all day everyday" or anything,
i mean, look at taylor swift's songs... theyre all about her ex boyfriends, but shes not saying "go date everybody & make sure it's their fault when u break up"
well, that's just my opinion ^^
and no offence, but i mean we're supposed to be panic! fans, yeah you can critique it, but if you don't like the music that much, why bother?
not tryna start a fight i always sound hostile, i swear

I'm fine with the cheating elements of the songs because they are stories and even if they do have a bit of truth to them, it's so far exaggerated that it doesn't bother me.
Brendo explained Miss Jackson. It was originally going to be called "Bad Apple" which is a character in a novel I believe. So the cheating aspect of Miss Jackson isn't Brendo sleeping around with some skank, it's just a character, she's not real. I'll see if I can find the interview where he said all this later. I think it's on their vevo.

I personally am not bothered by his religious references OR his references to cheating.
First of all, if he feels strongly about religion (which he obviously does), then he has
the freedom write about it. Second, it is not like he is being insulting with his references.
Also the line, "All you sinners stand up and sing hallelujah", is not calling to people in
jail, hookers, or cheating wives/husbands; it is calling to everyone. No, I am not saying
we all do bad things, it just his own way, a more extreme way, of saying that nobody's
perfect!!!!!
