The irony of all this talk is usually the most discussion starts when people say they want less adds and more discussion lol. But yes it is true that adds are once again taking over.
But I do want to point out, all of you as individuals can work to fix this. You want to post an add fine, whatever, but talk to other people when you do so, complement and ask questions and hopefully that will lead to discussion, or even post questions! those are the best.

Now because people are bring up old rules and such I want to mention this, proposals have been put up in the past about adding rules to fix this, mainly the comment on a minimum of three other people before posting anything. Most of you said no we don't want that. Eventually it sorta got put in as the don't spam rule but... most often this is gotten around by adding something new to a coppied post.

Btw this talk doesn't bother me as I agree with it and I don't see how change will happen if no one speaks up. BUT if you are set on change PLEASE message one of the moderators for this group with how YOU would change it. Saying you want change is great but you need to supply ideas as to how.

For the ads, what about 1 ad post every say 12 hours? A week is much to long, by a week sales of changed, things have been added, things lost. 6-12 hours seems more reasonable.

Btw if i bring back oh what was it called, Character Theme of the Day or something like that where I ask about a particular style of character, IE carousal, skull faced, ect. Would you guys participate, admitably it wont be every day cuz i have a life and i cant always think of something, but it may be something to help you all get on a flow of talk.

Or maybe 24 hours, even? That's only 1 day. And I'd totally participate! Maybe you could do it weekly instead of daily? That way you won't be overwhelmed and people will have enough time to respond before they miss out.

@Dee: The largest issue with 24 hours is say this user can only get on at 3:00 and stay on to 3:30, i know its unrealistic but this is an example. Day one they post their ad right at 3, day 2 they are a little slow and its 3:15, day 3 something came up they post at 3:31 and leave, now because they have to be gone by 3:30 normally it will be two days before they can post. I'm mostly worried about the cycle that 24 hours starts. And the Monday Tuesday Wednesday would work only if we stick to Chicken Smoothie time. So in that sense it could work. Hmm i'll have to chew this.
I like the weekly idea except I'll always forget to post on the day i should post lol. It would end up being spontaniously random bursts probably depending on whats going on in my life.

FELINE. Actually nah, there are tons of felines. Hmmm maybe bats, bats are cute but I usually only see fruit bats or vampire bats.

Marsupials in general, you don't see many other then american possums.

Oh dear that's a hard choice... I'd probably go with my first Pimmie Gecko. I know he's nothing spectacular design wise but it'd be wonderful to have a little friend to carry around in my pocket wherever I went. He's also such a sweety he'd be great to have around when I get anxious,

For the most part I stalk this thread for sales and streams but I really enjoy reading people's responses to questions and looking at everyone's lovely characters. I definitely think we should utilize a few new rules to ease the ad flow and prompt more discussion. Personally I think something along the lines of one ad per X hours or one per X pages would help stem the ads. As for discussion I think we all need to make an effort to post things we can all discuss instead of just showing off our new chars/art/etc.

I love the theme of day idea, maybe multiple people could be on a rotation so someone would have monday then someone else tuesday etc so it won't all fall onto one person.

Right now, because of the fact my tablet pen is broken atm, I'm doing a traditional sketch of each of my 54 characters. I'm trying to fit as many onto one page as possible but It's def goig to take me at least two pages. I'm planning on taking a picture once it's finished to show you guys ^^

Tbh the only real way to stop sales post from taking over is out-right ban in my opinion. New rules get put up and after a couple months people find ways to get around them or say they want it to change. Once every day/12 hours is nice, but hard to monitor, especially with how fast the thread moves. Having a separate thread for ads doesn't work either, we tried that already. The best solution I can think of is re-directing people to the character sales board or putting it in their sigs. Some small things like "if you like my art I take commissions at xyz linked in my sig" or "also I have characters for sale in my sig if anyone wants to check it out" would probably be fine, but nothing more than a sentence and no pictures/etc for the sole purpose of advertising.

This isn't to say I 100% support this solution, most of the time I come by here i'm actually looking at character sale ads, but I do believe it may be the only/best solution for significantly reducing ads.
