If you guys want more character c focused conversations and such I highly suggest the Original Characters thread c: that's all they do there and it's required I think ^^ tbh I'm not really sure what the CAAA is but I mostly like going to streams and suxh~ I have met a lot of friends on this thread the way it is so far so maybe it just takes people actually wanting to talk to people? C: I'm always open for chatting and making friends and that's usually what I get from this thread.

I'm probably guilty for the market thing as well but I don't mean for me to be. I like getting input from people who know what they are looking for. Though I sometimes run into the loop of getting skipped over by other people but I guess it's cause I'm new. That and I'm in a tight monet spot rn since a job didn't pan out;

@Hnai & Funsized~ Unfortunately by the time I joined, the group was nothing like that. But it does sound pretty amazing. I guess it's just that so many people are starving for money/points nowadays. I only really come here to answer questions and go to streams because that's when I get to talk to people most. I think it'd be great if the group went back to that. Or maybe we could have a different section/thread for character sales.

But then again, it is called Character Adoption Addicts Anonymous, so I see how it could be more geared towards adopting/selling characters.

About the current convo, problem with that idea of a separate thread is the fact that it's been tried and failed... multiple times. Sadly, no matter how many times this convo comes up, it always drifts back to how it is now. It's been tried many times to improve it, but honestly, it has just gotten worse since some older rules about ads were removed. I do not agree with the separate thread idea only because it has already failed, so we honestly need to think of something else to control all the ads.
That's just what I think though.

As for all the discussion going on; it's very true and I hate it. And I think its going to be almost impossible to fix it. When it comes down to it life depends on money. Unfortunately it even takes hold of things that are supposed to be just fun like characters.

how about this? Any time someone posts an ad they HAVE TO post something like a question, story, new character, character development etc... they can't just post an ad, they have to post something else too. That might help people to stop being so ad revolved, or at least keep people posting things non related to ads.
No offence to Wesley but I don't really think anything will happen anyway.. I'd love to go to them but I kinda feel like they might just leave it the same .

it's not that there is too many sales, there have ALWAYS been lots and lots of sales posted. it's more of people have been asking, commenting, and posting a lot less content along WITH their sales. i noticed the rule making people comment or post something relevant when re-quoting sales DID provide a temporary fix when first implemented. now instead of just re-quoting a lot of times people reword their sales, or add something new to them so they look like a completely different sales post, and they get around having to post or comment.

i think with a lot of theft that has gone around lately people have been afraid to post art and OCs, and in turn there hasn't been very much to comment on for the people who only stop by every so often.

i agree Paluumin, "be the change you want to see". i try to post something relevant and comment to as many people as i have time for, it really doesn't take that much time even for someone busy to comment the minimum of 3 things. we should all try and be more active in the sense of at least posting more content like art and new OCs not for sale, to give more opportunity's for conversation and friend making.

As i've replied to a lot of people who messaged me, i think the sales are an important part of the character community, and i don't think we should end the sales, but they just seem to be taking over the thread.
Also, i don't think we should abandon CAAA for other character communities because it used to be the best and most famous character community on cs.
And lastly, just before i finish the post, i don't agree with the separate thread idea too, and i wish i could give you more ideas to solve this problem, but i honestly don't have any at this exact moment.
If somebody suggests something good, though, i'll be the first one to help and support their ideas.

Maybe a different approach then. Maybe instead of posting a ad every 5 pages, we could make it every few days? Or even once a week? And maybe you have to ask a question/start a new topic in the post with your ad?? Idk, I'm just trying to help.

Thank you to everyone who posted responses to my questions, it was very interesting to read them! You kind of make me want to adopt out some of my characters. Maybe sometime later I will go through them and be really tough and if I don't develop them, rehome them.

Hnai - I get what you mean, questions and discussions get drowned out pretty quickly by all the sales posts. I like to try and post responses to people in the thread whenever I post, but I only respond to new character/art/discussion/question posts so sometimes I don't get to say much if there isn't much of those above me. Maybe we just need to make more of an effort to post questions and discussions that people can respond to? I'll try to think up some more questions to post later <3
