@ ☆ Fantelle ☆ - Your art is gorgeous! I am at not point were I can offer you any type of critique, sorry.
@ashy, - I have to agree, the back leg in front looks a bit longer than the rest of the legs. I have to say I really love you you did the eyes!
@ CaptiveLegacy - I am in the same boat as Nix Jazz, I am not a fan of the MLP style but your pieces always look so amazing! I really love the use of the textures!
@Mthic - Sorry your images are not showing up.
@Dukaalmaar - your two characters are adorable! The one thing I would like to point out is the back leg on the second drawing, its looking a little longer than the rest of them. I would redline it, but I am currently unable to I would suggest giving it a more stretched out look if that makes sense?
@Nix JAzz Tempesedo - I am rubbish at drawing humans so I can't really say anything about your piece in a form on advice for that pose. love your art, always been a fan of your style.

It's been awhile since I have drawn a profile picture of a canine and I was just wondering if I would get any thoughts/redlines on my anatomy? My focus has been mainly the legs, and using the points of the joint to help me position the leg..
I am aware I made the back leg a little pointy..

They are the same image just flipped so you only have to redline one..

    @Fantelle: That looks absolutely stunning, wow! I certainly don't have anything that I can critique you on for that, it's gorgeous!

    @Ashy: That art is absolutely adorable! my only critique would be that the legs being held in the air, especially the back one seem quite long compared to those on the ground.

    @Captive Legacy: Despite not being a big MLP fan, I've always adored your MLP art, it's absolutely gorgeous and this piece is no exception, I can't find anything to critique you on :)

    @Mythic: Those pics don't seem to work for me unfortunately, just wanted to let you know I'm not just skipping over you because I'm a meanie or anything ;D

    @Floofems: It's a lovely style you're going for! You can certainly see how much effort you've put into it! Wonderful job :) I've done a bit of a redline anatomy-wise for you if you'd like: http://sta.sh/01b9xw2a0bfx
    Though obviously I'm no expert myself ^^;

    @Antiko: You've done an amazing job on it! I'm not really the person who'd be able to answer your question but I wish you luck!

    @orion: That's some really lovely art you've done there! I can't think of anything to critique you on at the moment. Gorgeous job though!

    @Dukaalmaar: Great job on the pieces you drew! The biggest thing I saw would be the wing anatomy on the first drawing. Perhaps try looking up some Dragon Wing tutorials on Deviantart. My biggest tip though would be to think of the structure similar to a hand with really long fingers and the little claw being the thumb.

    --------------------

    Okay, I'd really love some help on this little sequence here! It's supposed to be a little airbending move one of my OC's is doing but I'm having trouble with the last panel on the first line and the first panel on the second line. They're just not fitting in... I'd imagine it similar to a butterfly kick except he'd pull his legs together and his arms to his chest mid-arc for momentum before splaying them again to balance the landing.

    But I'd love any redlines or advice if possible!

Thank you so much for the help guys! I knew when orion. pointed it out that there was something wrong with the back of her, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I know now! Thanks!

    So I did some traditional art, the supplies I used: polychromos, acrylics, watercolours, pastels.
    Any critique is appreciated, but please, constructive criticism and ways to improve this.

    @Nixx Jazz Tempesedo: I think the figures look a little stiff in certain areas, for example the first figure, one of the arms looks rather stiff and the hand is in a weird position which isn't lined up properly with the arm. I quite like this figure study, also what I'd do, make the legs a little longer, pay attention to proportion and what you should probably do is look at it as shapes rather than as a being. The whole body you could put in the composition of shapes which could help you with proportion.
    @orion.: The pixel avatar is quite nice, one thing that pixel artists often do is that they don't let three pixels form a corner but rather make it look like this (can't explain quite well with words so here's a picture):
    Image
    @Captive legacy: Rather nice and stylised, don't have anything to say really.
    @Floofems<3: That's a really nice style, just pay attention to anatomy and use references. As long as you avoid tracing using references to help you out with anatomy is okay.
    @Stonefly: Only thing I'd suggest is again, work on the anatomy, use references and if the 'certain parts are larger' look is what you're not going for, please also pay attention to proportion, other than that it's a really nice design c:
    @Ashy,: As for deviantart, what I can suggest is to join many groups, the community is rather small so getting noticed is hard.
    This video has a lot of information regarding that topic.

@Gwanu
Wonderful art, a lot better than what I could do. X3 if I have to say anything I'd make the arm a bit longer/larger. But I'm no anatomy guru, I hardly know these things myself.

Here's a small art dump since my images didn't work last time.

wow the art around here is amazing c:

So at my old school, my art teacher wasn't very enthusiastic about art but my new one is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. Like a mentor you know? Anyway, we did this really cool bleach painting and then came back with some color pencils and colored there. It was kind of funny because I was the quiet new person hiding in the corner, which is quite unlike me. This was a few months back I did this piece and I haven't really had any good art teachers to push me or teach me correctly and just kind of learned on my own. Like I really didn't know there were things such as a white chalk pencil.

Here's some in progress shots. From left to right, I sketched it witch a white chalk pencil, then i went over the markings with bleach, causing the yellow, then went in with colored pencils. This piece was also large.
Image

and I didn't get much further but I can't find the pic that has some more done. I got as far as to getting the nose and lips colored and the body finished.

But now I no longer go that school and will probably never get this finished and it kills me.

And here's an example of my art on here. -_- I have to use a laptop to draw.
Image Image
This may sound crazy but I have to touch my canvas and stuff and just feel my way around it as I draw so digital art is very tough for me.

Om also very confused about the tablet thing. Is it just a general tablet with an app download or is it a certain device?

@Electric~Lime~Zebra: Wow, very impressive! That's a technique I've never seen before x3 it looks fun.

To answer your question about tablets: It's a certain device. Some artists do have an app on tablets that they use to draw, but most artists are talking about graphics tablets. Overall they make digital art faster and more intuitive, once you get the hang of using them. There's a little bit of a learning curve, because unless you have one with a display (which tend to be uber expensive), you're drawing on the tablet while looking at the monitor, so it's a little tricky to learn the hand-eye coordination at first. But once you have it down it feels pretty natural. That's how digital artists achieve lines that vary so much in size, because most graphics tablets made nowadays support pen pressure sensitivity, which tapers the lines/changes the size and/or opacity depending on how hard you press with the pen. They're pretty neat x3

@Mythic: Going backwards here, oops xD Very cool! I've never made any sort of clothing/cosplay/large sewing project like that, it looks hard xD but like it'll be really awesome when you're finished.

@LOCW_Bluestarwarrior: Welcome! ouo

@Gwanu: Ahhh I love your art so much, it's all so beautiful. The arm on the right (her left arm) is a bit off in size/position, but the rest of it is absolutely gorgeous. It mostly just looks like she doesn't have a joint in there at all, and in turn that her arm is too short. Hands and arms are really hard though, especially traditionally, so overall I'm super impressed. I really wish I could be more helpful than that, but I guess the only thing I can suggest is looking up (or taking) some pictures for reference and/or looking up some proportion guides? Arms are generally long enough that if she were standing with her arms straight down, her fingertips would rest mid-thigh. Ahh, I'm sorry that this isn't very helpful. I really do love this painting though, it's gorgeous.

@Stonefly: I'm really not very familiar with canine anatomy (human and occasionally feline artist here), so I can't really help you there, but I really like the design a lot. Very pretty.

Does anyone have any advice for drawing/painting backgrounds? I love to paint, mostly faces, but I struggle with backgrounds so much. Foliage and other small detail is especially hard for me to wrap my brain around. sfghds. For example, I painted this a few days ago, and while his face is fine (I'm actually super proud of his face) the background is just... hgjfhjh, especially when you look at the photo I was using for reference. Nothing I drew seemed to look right! Very frustrating. ANYWAYS.

@dukaalmar: love your style! those wings are amazing, and that dragon thing is very straneg, but fun cx
@nix: that looks very good! I can't really help you with redlines, as human anatomy isn' really my strong side.

are you the same nix as on advanced scribes, with whom I role played with a little?
@stonefly: lovely design, I especially like the colours. I can't do redlines, but here are some links that I hope will be helpful:

http://sleepingdeadgirl.deviantart.com/ ... -172994092
http://desertfox04.deviantart.com/art/S ... -201020202

@gwanu: that is amazing. beautiful! I especially like the background and the colours using.
@mythic: I think I've said it before, but I love the way you do linearts, and the use of texture.
@electric: I really like that traditional piece. I have never drawn like that before, but it looks very fun.

So, a legend died this week. I really love his music, so I felt I had to pay tribute to him.

I know the nostrils and hair turned out a bit wierd, so I'm mostly looking for opinions on the style of colourin, as it's a new drawing program I'm testing out called Fire Alpaca (my SAI stopped working, so I needed something else to draw in while I'm finding a sulotion to the problem)

Gwanu - That is really amazing! I don't know much about human anatomy so can't really be helpful I'm afraid. I'm wondering if her arm needs to be a touch thicker? You'd best ask someone who knows how to draw people though, I am unsure about proportions ^^;

Mythic - Aaah, those are so cool! I really like the feel of that first piece in particular. Very nice.

Electric Lime Zebra - That dog looks really super! For tablets, I'd definitely recommend one. They increase the speed of digital art by an absolutely ton, and you can do a lot more interesting things with brushstrokes too. I use a Wacom, it's one of the better known brands but there are many others out there. If you are serious about digital art then you should definitely invest in a tablet.

Orion - Very nice picture! I think the colouring style is fine, I particularly like the way you coloured the lightning bolt. One thing I notice, is that the eyes appear to be pointing outwards a little bit? I'd maybe suggest moving one of the irises off to the other side a bit more. I don't really know much about drawing people so I can't really help more than that. I think it looks really good!

-------------------------

So I want to draw a picture of my Plumie, Skyleth. I'm still really bad at back legs though, and I know the proportion is off but I am just unsure about what I want to do with those back legs X.x Anyone have suggestions or feel like redlining? Ignore the background it's just ideas about what I want to put there.

Edit: Had a go at correcting the back legs and adjusting the proportions. Still unsure about them?
