Aww. So cute. I was about | | close to saying that it still has hooded in the name, but they're cute all the same no matter what kind of hooded they are. I fell in love with hooded rats at one of my Specialty Animal Finals competition where they had live ID, where you got to see the real animals instead of just pictures of 'em. The one they had there was so adorable. It came up to the bars when I went there to peer inside, and he grabbed them and looked at me with this sad/hopeful looking face like he really wanted me to hold him. It was so adorable. XD

Muffin seems really lonely without Coconut. Any tips? Should I get another rat to make her happier, and if I should, any persuasion techniques? Christmas is coming up... I might ask for another, but I'm not sure if my mom would agree.

If you get another, I'd suggest you get two young ones. That way, when Muffin passes on, the younger two will still have each other. Good luck!

Dipper, my oldest is a hooded girl with some splotches on her back.
Gnoki is black with a white under belly
Erie-Stardust (or just Erie, or Star) is a hooded with beautiful speckling on her back and a star on her forehead.
I need to find a new vet and get them all checked up to make sure they're good to go for the winter this year

Just like NightWings said, it probably would be better to get two younger ones, it's also good because it seems like the older female rats "adopt" the babies as their own and take really good care of them (I know Akasha did when Demona died, she would sleep with t little Freya that looked like her old cage mate, and was very protective of her.)
As for persuasion, I would just try to convince your mother that it's better for her to have a cage mate, especially if you can't be with her twenty-four-seven, it's the case with most rodents in general, because most of them live in groups. That's how I convinced my mom of getting Ryu's cage mates, and my old Rabbits.
As for getting them, I would suggest checking out Craigslist and the like, trying to find the potential snake-food, but also be sure that they're friendly enough to be safe with Muffin.

Is pine okay for rabbits? I just filled my nesting boxes for my rabbits, and I think I remember reading that it wasn't okay?
