@AcetheKidd

Very lovely piece! The eye colouring was done very well and the way you drew the hair was beautiful *-* You also have a very nice way of shading *v*

Well, you asked for help so I'm here ;v;

Image

1: Eye lines and face proportions
I forgot where I learned this (probably from an animation class or something) but the eye-line (the line that's supposed to go through the eye) is actually right in the middle of the face (It took me a while to actually understand that). It's also around where the ear is. I also noticed the lower the eye-line is, the 'more cute' the character will turn out (that's why when I draw chibi, the eye-line is really low...). So maybe one suggestion I would give is to actually draw out the ear in the sketch and draw out all the lines on the face. I can see a bit where you wanted the ear and the eyes but for me (I usually draw low eye-lines ;7; ), perhaps the eye-line could be a bit (just a bit) lower ;v; The bangs shouldn't be too close to the eye but if you do want it to be closer, then extend the bangs and keep the eye-line where it is *v* Secondly, marking out the body shape (sketch) really helps, even though it's just a bust drawing ^-^ I make a weird trapezoid shape thing and the arms are just sausages but even that helps *v* I draw the clothing on top of the sketch (not exactly directing touching the sketch) so that the clothes aren't 'stuck' to the person, they're on the person... It's the same thing with hair really... The hair is not 'stuck' to your head, it's on your head... So when I draw the circle sketch thing, the hair is on top of it ;v; ahhh this is all confusing and everyone has their own style but these are just some of my opinions TTvTT

2: Mouth
Again with drawing the lines to guide you, I remember learning something at school about how the mouth and the nose aren't really that close to each other... It's again, confusing TTvTT But really, again just my opinion (you don't have to follow it), perhaps the mouth could be a bit lower and not right under the nose ;v; (a bit like in your first picture)

3: Blush and eyepatch
Something I love drawing (right behind yanderes and legs) are eye patches because KANEKI *-* adslfjkadf he's so adorable and beautiful aadsdfjda;lsfj KANEKI. I also get a lot of commissions with characters with eye patches and it saves me a lot of time because I don't have to draw the other eye *throws hands into the hair* But sadly, I actually do ;v; Just a little suggestion again, try to actually draw the other eye and then the eyepatch on top (not sure if you did that already or not ;v; ) Some artists draw the eye patch without drawing the eye and where you can see the eye (the eye patch didn't cover), the eye isn't there and the eye patch is covering some parts of the eye but not all... Next, eye patches have strings to keep them on *v* Thank you tokyo ghoul and it seems awkward to draw them at first, but the patch can't stay on without string ;v; So the string goes usually under the eye you can see and another above that eye. Finally, for blush, this is only how I draw it (don't have to do it that way) but basically I actually draw those weird blush lines and I use a light orange-red colour to colour underneath it... Then I use the blur tool and I go around the outline of the colour, so I'm not using airbrush. Lastly, it's really up to you if you want the sparkly thing (I usually forget it)

4: Shading
Everyone has a different shading technique and we can all have our own thoughts on it so you don't have to change your shading technique, it's just that don't usually use the airbrush or blur tool a lot when it comes to shading ;v; Firstly, when shading, you first have to know your base colour really well. When you start shading, pick the next colour closest to red (don't move around the colour wheel too much) and make the colour either slightly more saturated or slightly darker. That way it gives it life *-* Just as seen in the yellow blob thing... So there are a lot of ways to actually shade but his is the first shading method I learned when I got SAI: Use the marker tool and set the layer to fringe. If you got to paint effects (above layers), there's a thing called Effect and beside it it says 'none'. Click that and set it to Fringe... Basically it gives whatever you're colouring an outline *v* And because I'm using the marker tool, it's easy to blend (but not as much as blur) and I usually do 3 colours of shading layers when it comes to detailed shading. I also use brush at times because I'm just too lazy to use marker but either way, it works *v* I also don't use blur nor airbrush at all (except when lighting) because it just doesn't suit my style and it's too... blurry ;7; But of course, it's only my opinion ;v; Finally for shading, I always use a light orange because I don't usually draw tanned people but if that's what you're going for, looks fine ^-^ For shading, you did a good job with choosing the colours *v* So if you put that all together... You get a Lumi *v* (see picture) I used at least 3 oranges to shade his hair and the base colour was yellow ;v; The magic of shading *v* I used the marker shading technique in here (shhh ignore my terrible anatomy and the look he's giving you)

Hope this helped and I know it's a lot and I'm not the best in expressing myself in words (but in art *v*) but I hope this helped ;v; You don't have to use all of them, they're really just simple suggestions and ways that I draw TTvTT Hope this helped ;v;
(I was mainly focusing on the image I could see, not the one in the link because I'm really lazy ;7; )

----------------------------------

@give me your milk
A bit like what I just wrote up there about drawing bases or a sketch and shapes to help you map out the general shape of the picture, try to sketch the body shape, even though it's just a bust ^-^ I think you're going for a more realistic look while I'm just an anime/manga style artist who's terrible at realism (shhh) but at school we learned a few things about it...
The face proportions are good but with hands... Don't worry, we all struggled TTvTT Basically, even though I hate doing it myself, you have to draw a trapezoid thing with sticks coming out of it. Those are fingers and you basically outline them ^-^ It take a really long time to master it so don't be angry if you don't get it on your first try ;v; Took me about a year ;A; But there's a simple tutorial thing I found on hands and basically, first start off with mitten hands and then proceed to fingers TTvTT Tutorial here and if I struggle if hands, I usually do the thing I just told you... You can't see it very well but the bottom picture that was messed up here, I drew a sketch for the hand TTvTT (that was from a long time ago please forgive me)

Other than that, I was going to comment on the shading and lining but since you didn't want that to be the main focus, I'll leave it at that ^-^
Just the skin's base colour is supposed to be more of an orange rather than yellow, just like in the image above (where I helped AcetheKidd) and really it's just the same thing TTvTT

Hope this helped and I know it's confusing and weird but hopefully it helped in a way ;v;

If you look at the pinky finger side of your hand, it's not as thick as you've drawn it in the photo, I'm not good with people/hands anyway,so this is the only thing that I've really noticed!

Recently I have amassed a small collection of drawn maps (self-drawn) and I really like drawing them, so here are the ones that I've drawn so far! (A lot of them are a variation of the same lines!) http://monotsleigh.deviantart.com/gallery/55443161/Maps

street solider. ohhh my gosh haha i love that ;w; it's so adorable & clever

acethekidd ovo you have such a nice coloring style!!
tbh i can;t say much except that the head seems a bit too wide & the shoulders are too narrow. the chin also comes to too much of a point {unless, of course, that's a stylistic choice!}

juvia lockser here is a link to a whole boatload of tutorials! looking at hair in real life helps a lot too~

meowool that's so rad!! ovo i admire ppl who can make maps i don't have the patience for them. they look really cool!!

i drew this last night & i love it a lot ;w;

@AcetheKidd - ooh human art hello :0 Not sure if I'll be able to say anything new, but I'll give it a shot!
I love the way you do colour and light, ahh ;u; And the way your lines adjust to the colour is very cool. I keep meaning to do that and forgetting. But anyway, like corrigan. said, the chin points out just a tad weirdly, especially with the Dean headshot. It looks a lot more like a stylistic choice and less like a mistake in the image you posted directly here, I think because the mouth is a little higher up! Even if you're planning on very stylised drawings, I find sketching from/on top of reference photos of faces to get an idea of realistic proportions can be really helpful :0 Other than that, I am totally jealous ouo

corrigan. - That guy looks so cool, omg. Who is this dude? How does he get his coat to billow like that?

Okay, it has been actual years since I last finished a drawing of something non-human, and I've never seriously tried to mix non-human species before, but... these happened, and I kind of like them! Uncolored nature and sketchiness aside, are there any glaring errors I should know about? Are there any essential places to go for animal anatomy? Any help is appreciated ;u;

@owldog - oh gosh, thank you! uwu Yeah, legs. I'm not a big fan, human or animal, tbh. Um I am 100% alright with redlines, I just didn't want to put anybody to trouble or anything ;u;
(I would critique your thing but I'm p obviously not in a good position to critique non-human art ;33)

Hey guys! I just drew this drawing and I would love a few critiques of possible on the legs. They certainly aren't my strong point at all, so maybe a few pointers on how to make them would help.

Can I get some anatomy help here? It's supposed to be a cat. I'm not going for realistic as far as the drawing itself, but I would like to have correct anatomy. I do give permission to draw on it. c:

Edit;; @Mythic The legs look great. I'd look up some paws on google images of the animal though.

corrigan - That's so cool! ;v; I love their stance, it's so hard to draw that one - and the cape billow really flows well.

Mythic - The front right leg's paw looks a bit off - maybe it might look a bit better if the paw was facing a more forwards position? But otherwise it looks great! I envy your style. ;w;

I was popping in to see if anyone had any critique for this piece that I finished awhile ago? ^^; I really want to improve in time to take an art class next year, so any feedback would be appreciated! I'm so sorry about the quality of the image, it was the best I could get.
