Re: Punish The Deed Not The Breed! (A Club Against Dog Fight

Thank-you Nuclear! Also I have another fact for you.

"Rich or poor, American parents used to know exactly what pit bulls were famous for. Being great with kids."

- America's Nanny Dog is the victim of a smear campaign that has turned common sense upside-down and robbed us of our historical memory. The dogs that we trusted with our children's lives are now deemed too vicious to live among us. The dogs that in two World Wars were the symbol of the United States military itself are now ordered off its bases.* The Pit Bulls haven't changed at all. Only the owners have.

- The truth is that this breed is and was The Nanny Dog's of USA. I don't know why WE
turned on them. Really there grate dogs for kids. At a shelter I volnteer at we have the sweetest pits in
the world and we also have a girl named Moma Dog(She came in a yearago with pups). EVERYONE loves her!
She is the most easy going dog. DX It hurts me that people hate pits!

Same here, I love them and I almost got one but my dad decided not to get him because he was a male and he didn't want him peeing on the car tires. -_-

What you think about Dog fighting/abuse: I hate it >< Whats making people do it? If we know we could try to help the humans into not doing it, but instead we just kill the dogs. What good is that?
How much do you love dogs and against Dog fighting (1-10 (1-I hate them, 10-Love them to Death and beyond)): 10, people who do it should just die. And puppies are super cute ^^
Any thing you like to say?: We should respect dogs, they're our best friends. All who abuse them should die, as i said before.

Well, I know why I turned on them. Or, not really turned on them, since I've done them no harm (except for one). I know that humans should have no real fear of pit bulls, but for those of us with other dogs pit bulls are just plain dangerous. They may be man's best friend, but they are a dog's worst enemy. It would be nice if pit bull owners would do the right thing and socialize their dogs with other dogs a lot throughout their life, but it just doesn't happen all that often. And then you get problems like mine, where you are relentlessly chased by them through the streets or you have to stand like a road block in between them and your dogs (which is very dangerous, I'll have you know). And all you wanted to do is take your dogs on a walk. And no, please don't start with the pitts in my neighborhood all being owned by bad people, because it just isn't true. They aren't training their dogs to fight, and the same dogs that I have problems with when I walk mine are completely civil and totally friendly when I walk by without a dog. They just have a natural disposition that makes them more likely to attack other dogs. So yeah, I sort of kind of hate them. I have met... One? One pit bull out of dozens that did not try to attack or threaten my dogs. So. I don't hate that one. Because she is awesome and a good example of what pitt owners should strive for in a dog.

Anyway, their reputation makes sense when you see it from the eyes of someone who has had their dogs attacked by pitts before. Or their chickens. My step sister lost her dear Jack Russell to her neighbor's pitts, who literally tore him apart. And these weren't fighting pitts either. They were family pets, just like the Jack Russell. And then you throw humans into the mix, who are just trying to save their dogs, and people get hurt. And everyone becomes afraid. Anyway, I'd love to see a group of pitt breeders that take special care in socializing their puppies DAILY, with as many dogs and cats and every other kind of animal they can find. Because Pit bulls really are great around kids and adults, but not really anything else because pet owners don't really think to socialize them. I know I didn't. Luckily the breed of dog that mine is tends to be very welcoming, and so is my dog. Even to the pit bull that attacked him.
