When you are battling mettaton keep doing pose. With sans ( if you do geno ) don't hit him until he sleeps. make sure to get as many healing items as you can. When sans does the gaster blaster circle thingy on you pay attention where they are shooting before you start running. I have a few more but i forgot some.

Actually, just don't put any power onto your hits. The battle doesn't continue unless you attack.

1: It's great for Mettaton EX'S fight, gives you +700 ratings, but you can only use it once.
2: It's great to fight Endogeny, just throw the stick and the battle's over.

2: If you're doing genocide, gives you full health.
