Hi yall, this is my current story and costume and I'm excited to share it before I officially apply!
Pet's name: Martzia
It all started when she was a little chick from her nest, high up in the humid jungle canopy. She had peered out from beyond the leaves, her dull, stubby down rustling with excitement as her eyes widened with wonder.
Its scales twinkled like the summer stars. The sleek, narrow body surged forward with a burst of speed through the crystal clear water, splitting the invisible current in two.
Splash! It leapt high into the air, its muscular body twisting with an unprecedented grace. The fan-like tail flicked effortlessly in the thick jungle breeze, casting a glint of silvery light that Martzia could barely catch out of the corner of her eye.
Splash! It slipped into the babbling river yet again, its mighty blue-grey form disappearing down the bend in a flash. Martzia felt like she had just seen magic.
As the years went by, she never forgot about that magnificent creature. She didn't even get to know its name. All she knew about that mysterious fish was that it was seen at the mouth of the river at the beginning of that summer by passing migratory birds. She hadn't heard about it since.
Since that day, Martzia was always in trouble when she was down by the river.
"Martzia, stay out of the water!" her mother would shriek. "You'll soak your down and catch a cold!"
"Martzia, no playing in the river! We need to fly out to the Southern Canopies by midday!"
"Martzia! Martzia!"
Those days were long gone, but now she sits on her driftwood perch in a different, faraway land, gazing at her vibrant ocean murals painted across her walls. The chilly autumn weather had set in, a far cry from her old home in the rainforests. As the sun dips down into the hills and painted the sky orange, she knows it's finally time.
She whisks on her delicate silks and ruby accessories. Her translucent red cape glitters like the autumnal sky, and her fins flicks with every slight motion. As she spreads her elegant wings to soar out into the festive night, she feels as if she could split the air itself in two. She glides across the crisp, dusky sky and over the winding rivers of houses and sidewalks. The trick-or-treaters gaze with awe as her graceful scarlet form flies by. Her jewelry glinted in a silvery light under the rising moon.
Whoosh! She lands gently in front of your door and gives it a knock. Won't you give this flying fish a treat tonight?
Trick or Treat!
