Have you ever had a rat?: Yes... I used to have three lovely girls.. t.t

Junie : White Siamese Point w/ red eyes. She was the 'Houidini' of the group, and always liked to escape ;P. She was originally a feeder rat, and was rescued by a sweet girl who rescues all sorts of animals, including rats, she rescued the whole entire litter. Anyways, she was very skittish and she still was for the years I've had her, yet she was able to sit contently in my hands. The poor girl took a long time to get adjusted, but she warmed up. My little brother wanted to name her Junie.

Mozart : Sister to Junie, and looked exactly the same. She was on of my favorites out of the trio. She was just a big sweet-heart, and would always climb onto my shoulder and want to cuddle. When I'd bring her into the 'play' room she'd run around, then if she looked back, and she could barely see me she'd come racing back into my lap. I loved that little girlie. I named her after a favorite meerkat from Meerkat Manor.

Pepper : Oh my goodness. This girl was a FATTY. She was a black and white irish point, and my father convinced me to get her. We got her from a local breeder. She was so plump, and, squishy o3o. She was a lap-rat, while the two would be running around in the pen she'd be content sitting in my lap getting her back scratched or belly tickled. In the end the poor sweetheart suffered from a tumor, which is common in females.

Anyways, I loved the little girls, and they were very dear to me. I might get two new girls sometime. Soo...ya..o3o.
R.I.P Junie, Mozart, and Pepper.
[ Sorry for the abnormally long post. These girlies passed away last summer, and I will see if I can get some pics of her.

Wow.... you put live animals on a TRADE website? I'm pretty disgusted.
You will get all sorts of owners getting in touch with you posting them like that! You should talk to a rescue about them advertising for you, or a vets practise, not a free ad site. Those poor ratties. Also, you are selling them for "christmas presents"? They're just going to end up back in rescues. Rats, in fact any animal, are not for Christmas. They are living pets and I don't know how yours got pregnant, but you are responsiable to find them good homes!

Also, £7 per rat??
Rats need company, and need same age company. Are you letting them go by themselves then?
What age are they right now??? If the pic is recent, they are far too young to be rehomed.

Wow.
Not trading.

Right, you're rehoming at 5 weeks? 5 weeks is far too young.
You have to split the boys at 5 weeks before they are able to breed, but you can't let them go at that age.
8 weeks is a much better age and you would be better finding a better place to advertise.
I am sorry if I sound harsh, but I'm really angry at people who do things like this.
They are NOT Christmas pets for children and they should NOT be sold for £/$7, possibly alone.
Not trading.

In Sweden it is perfectly acceptable to rehome rats at 5 weeks old. Most breeders split the genders at 4½-5 weeks and rehome their babies at 5 weeks, maybe a bit later if they are very small. Breeders in general will not rehome a rat until it is 5 weeks old and weighs at least 90 grams (of course, most babies weigh more than that when they are 5 weeks). There are a few breeders who waits until the rats are 6 weeks old, but I have never heard of anyone keeping them until 8 weeks of age before rehoming. Is there a reason why you should wait until they are 8 weeks old?
