@SquishyPandaCat the adopts are here. and since this is a closed species, there aren't any free linearts to make your own, but there are MYO tickets that you can purchase with dA points or earn by getting stubs from referrals, or the MYO raffles every 50th and 100th viscet c:

when you get a viscet, however, there are gift lines people have created that you can colour in of your viscet!

Hey guys, I got to talking with one of my friends and we disagreed over what the rules for one of the comps wanted. I tend to lean into reading the rules more strictly and adhere to the word of the rules, while she read it more broad and adheres to the spirit of the rules.

So I was wondering and I feel a little silly for asking this but.... What counts as an extra? Specifically.

I tend to assume that anything not included in the base form provided is an extra and will be counted as such.

I tend to assume that anything not included in the base form provided is an extra and will be counted as such.

I tend to think this depends upon the artist and who's judging.
for me though - an extra is anything that isn't coding, or outlined in the form.

in example; a poem is an extra, a personality is an extra - a playlist of songs is an extra.
to me anything that isn't coding - like fancy one-two sentence text banners, or (none-viscet) images that go with the coding are fine - OR anything that isn't outlined in the form (like having name, gender, personality, + an extra)

but that could just be me. c:

I always figured an extra was anything outside what the contest requested. This includes prettying up forums, art, poetry, writing, animation, links, music, lyrics / words all over the forum, colour, design, equity and the list goes on. If the contest didn't ask for it, then it is an extra. I am careful when coding though because there is the off-chance I end up over-coding an entry and therefore am disqualified for it.

It should be up to the original artist to make that definition though, but I also like to think that most artists should list what they think is an extra more elaborately as well. If that makes sense. (Especially with impress me contests)

Creative, you really do bring up a good point. It would be nice if try out judges could add what exactly counted as an extra if they allowed users to pretty up their forms, so that way people won't accidentally make the mistake of adding one, only to have their form disqualified regardless of how hard they worked to complete it due to one accidental extra which was used to visually improve a basic form.

I count extras being things that the user created themselves or purchased/recieved from others, such as art and writing. If a user also uses a site to create an image that is character specific (for example, using a text creator to make an image of the character's name), it would also count as an extra.

Photographs, fancy images (such as borders), and animated GIFs that were pulled off the internet (such as backgrounds/scenery, images of animals, etc.) used to simply pretty up a form are things that I don't usually classify as extras.

Of course, the above should only be permitted if prettying up forms are allowed by the judge themselves. ^^,

@Creative i always used to find myself PMing the judge/artist just to double check about the extras because I was afraid I would be disqualified because I happened to misunderstand. but I agree with your point of view and really took the rules of a competition as a strict guideline.

Maly is still up for readoption. the comp has been extended and now ends on the 26th.

I'm looking for some help with the Rebel readoption. I would love some art to go with my form. I have pets, C$ and event tokens i can pay in, or i can code something up for you as well. I will sell my soul to anyone who can draw up a decent viscet skeleton with his horns. i'm also looking for a few viscets i can use as friends/enemies/allies. he's a pretty powerful necromancer who dabbles pretty much exclusively in the darker side of the art.
