It is possible to do well without spending a lot of money on the game. I've spent £50ish on Howrse over what 10 years now and that was years ago now and i am in the top 260 on UK and i would be a decent ranking on International, but i recently re-started over there as i stopped playing. So you can do it. It's not easy, but it's possible. Just takes time and effort, though i agree that it should be less pass reliant- especially the events. On International there is a lot of competition as well, so it's harder than on most of the other servers.

I am on the UK server- my favourite one. I have PBSH with 2300-2350GP, but no more i don't think. Same with the selling i think, but feel free to look. Link in my signature.

If there is anyone on UK, i am looking to buy horses for the trophies. I need a load of the breeds and coats, not spending a huge amount per horse- around 10k tops and i would like decent GP, but will buy lower if i need to.

ive given up on howrse. its a scam and honestly hard to play without passes.

I've always wanted to do the breed trophies on my UK account. But I hate having unorganised horses, so as I only ever had a few breeding farms I never did it.
However I spent three passes on a pegasus account a couple of days ago- a trial period if you will to see if killing three pass horses a month to pay for it, is worth it.
So I organised everything and spent a fortune on buying horses with the coats I need. However some of them aren't so good and as I only have 260ish horses they all count towards my ranking, thus my 249 general ranking (which I was pretty proud of) has dropped to 264 already and I've only got a few trophies.
Therefore now I am starting to wonder if I should even do it anymore. My ranking is important to me and while I would love to buy decent horses for each trophy, that would cost a fortune. Which I don't think I would be willing to spend.

So I don't know what to do. Should I carry on and sacrifice some ranking for trophies- I could always keep an eye on GP/Skills and buy better if I see good prices I suppose, keep the pegasus account for other reasons- I have a lot of pass horses and I get them frequently, so I hope I could do it, or forget it and go back to how it was.

I don't tend to worry too much about rankings and trophies myself, but if you need an easy way to make a lot of equus to help get the horses you need, I may be able to help out. When I have enough BMIs, I buy the highest GP foal going for equus (capping the price at 100,000 equus or so), then spend an entire day training it (this does include riding) using all the BMI needed to make it as best as possible. Of course the current mini-game thing and trading of BMI may he needed if you can't get passes, but if you put it to auction when the skills will go no higher and it has a few rosettes, you can easily get 1 million+ for it. Or passes, but I don't sell for passes. Aanndd no horses need to die.
