honestly, even in sarasota you'll rarely find enough people to take a raid on. the only place i've ever successfully taken any raid was in key west BY CHANCE, and in orlando, but even then we barely won.

Come up with a few movesets...edit profiles accordingly...add models and dex entries (which I'm pretty sure is copy/pasted from a main series game). Done? I'm not a programmer but it shouldn't take very long to add a group of Pokemon at all. I bet you they add all the hatted Pikachu in a few minutes or less.

Also, the Chicago event wasn't totally Niantic's fault since providers got overloaded with how many people were on (obviously the event day would have more people on than usual, so).

I don't think it should have taken as long as it did.
They had the formatting from putting Gen one in the game. All they had to do was duplicate and edit it for gen 2.
And simplicity or lack there of aside; they should have known that people would complete their gen 1 dex with relative ease.

Do you know how fast people can complete main-line pokemon games?
I had to stop playing Soul Silver for a week after I got it, just to prevent myself from completing it in 2 days.
If you've got determined players, they will complete the game, whether you have new content lined up for them or not. And it's very short sighted on Niantic's part to not have been working on gen 2 sooner than they did.

People have short attention spans and lines of interest. If new things aren't put out at a decent enough pace, you lose people. They tapper off and disappear and stop caring. That's what's run us into this problem with the Raids, now. The game didn't give people enough to do after their dex was completed for gen 1, so they never came back for gen 2, and now it's hard to get any of these raid done because there simply aren't enough players spread evenly enough.

To be fair, the game was released far too early. Like I've said before, it has just enough features to be functional, but barely had any bugs worked out. For the first few weeks it was so buggy that it was almost unplayable at times. I really would have preferred if they released it months later, if that meant the game would run well. And while I'm not that mad at the very late release of gen2, the legendaries did take far too long, especially since they decided to release them trough a feature that requires many players to obtain them. Games lose traffic over time, it's natural and should have been expected.

From the very beginning it made no sense that they'd release more pokemon in crowded areas. I mean, cell traffic, sure, I get it. But isn't it meant to encourage people to, yknow, go outside? Parks and the countryside should be way more populated by pokemon than crowded city centers.

whoever said the game was released sooner then should have, props to you because that's exactly what happened.
also whoever said about the coding and stuff i agree, but at same time i have no idea.
i personally can't play the game where i live, because, well i don't necessarily exist on the map. so even when i do, there won't be any pokestops or gyms there until next year probably with the amenity center is (started- the other builder hasn't even started the amenity center they suck) completed. but i think that's more fun for me because it motivates me to actually play the game so i can complete my dex. i don't really mind not having any legendaries, and when i get them i get them. i know i'm going to miss all three of the birds so i haven't really got my hopes up.
as for future generations, i do think coding takes some time. the game definitely took well over a year to create, so i'm sure gen 3 and all further gens will take some time. i think we should expect gen 3 by the end of the year. i'm also curious about trading and breeding, because that might be the only thing i'll be able to do in my current situation. whatever happens with game, i'll probably still enjoy because before i moved i got a ton of stuff so i'm decent.
either way i can't wait to see what the game has in store for the future, because i'm sure it'll be great.

I would hope not. People would breed their blissey's and other rare pokemon and then there would not be any rare pokemon or any fun to the game anymore.

How is everyone doing with the legendary raids? Anyone with more than one Lugia?

I managed to get out of the house and into the city yesterday on bike. Went to 6 raids total. Went to my first Moltres raid with some guy that knew the way to the gym, defeated but didn't catch it. Then walked with a family to a Lugia raid. Defeated but no catch, that being my second Lugia raid. Then I cycled out to where some people were doing a Moltres raid that I saw on a WhatsApp group for raids in my city, and I finally managed to catch it. Then I cycled with a group of people from that raid out to a Lugia raid where again I didn't catch it. Then a girl at the raid let me stop off at her house to fill my water bottle and we went to find a Lugia raid and came across a Moltres raid on the way. Decided I'd help out and I got a second Moltres. Then finally we found a Lugia raid at the same Gym where I did my first Lugia raid, and I managed to catch it at last.

So tl;dr: Did 3 Moltres raids, caught 2. Did 3 Lugia raids, caught 1 (though it was my fourth Lugia raid in total).

One person at one of the raids I was at said he'd done 5 Lugia raids and still hasn't managed to catch it. :S

So a PSA for anyone having trouble with it: learn to throw curveballs. This sounds insane, but throwing just a normal curveball that didn't get inside the moving circle nets you a bigger catch rate than throwing an excellent straight ball. With enough practice it gets really easy to throw consistent great curveballs.

Nope, not even a single one for me.
I'm even staying at my countries capital city rn, and we still havent seen any raids with people already gathering. Pretty much given up hope at this point.
