@capone.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think the thickness sort of depends on the type of snake. It looks about right to me for something like a garter snake or corn snake, but it is definitely thin for anything like a python or boa. So I've made an alternate thicker tailed version. :)

For some reason your picture isn't showing up for me. :/ All I'm seeing is a few line breaks, so without even knowing the species there isn't much I can say to help you.

@Ciriun; here's a quick redline for you:
Image
drew in hands, defined muscles, fixed neck, moved ear up. the mouth edit is just a suggestion to make it more snake-like. ^^

@Crystal gryphon; beautiful pieces! my only critique for the first one is that the stripes on the tail look rushed. for the second piece, I would suggest making the eyes brighter, since everything else is so dark anyway. I realize you may be trying to create a moody piece, but a stronger focal point would be nice! I do like both though, nice use of colors and space.

They seem like a great start, but I think it would help to include more shading so that some of the colors and objects don't blend together so much. I'm not sure how to work with either of those cartoony styles, though. Maybe just clean up the edges.
These pictures are a bit old, but it's kind of how I've done lineless stuff. Just to give you an idea.
X -X

I'm having a hard time with the forepaws on the animal on the right. They seem weird every time I go in to line them.

I personally love this, cute design and all. but I noticed, that you du-claws (IDK how it's spelled and i am too lazy to look it up) Are both pointing the same way. Like they are supposed to be on the inside of the leg, but you make one on the inside and the other on the outside. Only being explained in the foot is spun all the way around.

Here is a picture;XxX
So maybe draw it on the inside?

I always feel so rude telling people the "flaws" and such of their art, I really have no room to say anything since I myself am not very good ;n;

But other then the odd claw thing, your art is adorable and so Kawaii <3

@acethekidd
You should add a couple more layers of shading and highlighting. Otherwise it's difficult to figure out where one part ends and another begins

@Tranquilkitty
I tried to redline yours but mine didn't look any better :,D
It's a really tough pose. I would recommend looking for some photo references.

My redline of the arms looks a little wonky, but you probably get the idea :,D

Thank you to everyone who critiqued my other two drawings!

I need some advice on this:

I had a lot of trouble with shading the tail and legs so they didn't look like one big blob.
Redlines are greatly appreciated!

Wow, I've missed this website. School completely took over anything I had that was creative.

Ciriun, that is amazing! The anatomy is so great, keep practicing and I'm sure you'll just get better and better, the only thing that looks a bit odd are the features on the face which Sketci seems to have cleared up c: Well done I love it!

Crystal gryphon, that painting is fabulous. The thing that stands out the most to be is the way that it doesn't look quite finished. Most of my pieces are super messy when I finish them, however an option you may decide to look at is to take some time to go around the edges? (Not literally the edges, just make everything more defined with more contrast c: The shading is amazing, just take that extra time to neaten it up a tad. ^-^

Just quickly;
What do you use to transparentise things?

-cracks knuckles- all right let's see if i can get off my lame butt and be semi-useful for once

usually you'd have to make the background transparent in whatever program you use but! if you can't do that just google 'make image transparent' or something like that and you should get some programs that can help

wow what a great character! the shading looks pretty good to me {although part of the reason you may have had trouble was because the tail overlapped the leg; seeing as they both have identical color schemes that's going to be problematic}

i'm away from my tablet {my baby ;n;} atm sooooo no redlines right now sorry!

yep, look into the dewclaws! but otherwise it's very good! excellent color scheme and wow your style is cute gosh {just a thing to keep in mind, though: make sure to clearly differentiate between fur and skin, especially if you're going for raptors, which have a leathery hide. atm the lower half reads a bit like short fur}

TranquilKitty wrote:I'm having a hard time with the forepaws on the animal on the right. They seem weird every time I go in to line them.

holy snap what nice anatomy! i'm so jealous my animals are terrible ;n; ummm i think the problem with the forepaws is the perspective that's going on; it makes it looks weird but as far as i know they're correct? maybe add a little more bend to indicate the final joint.

ohhh man lineless is so hard to do! kudos to you for doing it {i haven't done lineless in forever i'm such a wuss} but yeah! these are good. the key to lineless art is a. sharp edges and b. clearly defined shading. you'll wanna make the edges were two parts meet very dark so they read as separate things.

wow the inks on that are gorgeous! such a nice line width uwu the colors are fab as well. the angular style is nice, not something you see very often. the far cheekbone is sticking out too far though. but other than that, very nice! {i'm in love w/that hair gosh}

oooooook hey guess who's good at anatomy? not me. if you're good w/legs please help me i cannot art.
throws my baby at you {warning for mild blood}
also i am craving recognition someone praise me
