I have a quick question. This is my first year playing and I’m a tad bit confused. If you decide to give someone a treat, do you ignore the pm and send a gift? Or do you have to include a story regardless of whether or not you trick/treat someone? Or do you respond with “treat” and then immediately send a gift?

Trick: A trick means that you do not give them anything. Why you give a trick is up to you. When you trick someone, simply respond saying 'trick' or with a short story response saying 'trick'. Rude/mean/creepy/gore/etc are not allowed in trick messages.
Treat: A treat means that you give them a gift. It can be any kind of gift and any size. A single pet counts as a treat.

What can be given as a treat:
CS pets, items or C$
Custom art
Off site currency/pets may be given only if the other user agrees to it beforehand

I've seen treats delivered multiple ways. Personally I ignore the PM and send the person the treat with a graphic saying 'Treat'. In previous years before I had the graphic I just wrote "Happy Halloween" with the treat.

Hello! If you're sending someone a trick, you'll do so by responding to their PM. You can write a trick story if you want, but it's not required - you can simply say "trick" if you prefer.

When sending a treat, you don't need to respond to the PM if you don't want to - you can just send the trade over. Just like the trick, it's not required to include a treat story, but if you want to you can add it to the trade message or respond to the PM. It's also okay just to write "treat." :)

happy trick-or-treating, everyone! i know some people use rules to sort their messages for lolo, so i was wondering what kinds of rules you guys use? i haven't used pm rules before, so i'm a tiny bit confused. would something like this work? image link

Those are basically the same rules I have and they catch 99% of the LOLO messages. (Once in a blue moon, one gets by the filter)
I also have it listed in my sig to please label the messages that way so they don't get lost.

If you visit your trade settings, there’s a little box that you can check that disables trade pms. That way you only receive a notification in your trade center when you receive a trade, and not in your messages. This really cleared up my messages. Now all the messages in my message center are LOL’s and other pms.

these trade rules have been working well so far, thanks for the feedback! but yeah i like to keep a lot of my pms, so having a folder to shove them all in really helps so i don't accidentally delete something important to make room for lolo. c:

Yes, that is allowed! We understand it can be hard to change it each year so you are welcome to reuse your costume and story.

Alright, thank you so much! I don't have a whole lot of time for writing a story or thinking of a costume, but I still want to ToT so this works out great.
