Personality and Halter
Isì sighed to herself as she sat at the side of the practice area supposedly watching Amai put Caffè Macchiato through her paces before the eventing competition at the weekend. She felt awful about not really watching the two, knowing how excited the kitsune was about their chances, but her attention was inevitably drawn away by the sight of a certain red dun stallion misbehaving in the paddock. Again.

She'd decided on the name Hysmine for the Narakari she had been tasked with training, though she was beginning to wonder if he was acting up to fit the name. Truly a warrior befitting the name of the Greek personifications of battle and conflict, the young stallion was headstrong and impulsive, as well as skittish to an extreme. The shyness was expected of a newly caught Narakari, to be honest, but the sheer level of panic and fury Hysmine displayed at being approached showed he'd had bad experiences with humans or at least humanoid creatures before, which would explain his extensive brand scarring. The only one at the stables he would even tolerate entering the paddock was Isì, and the nature spirit suspected her affinity with most animals may have a slight hand in that. It was why she'd always worked with the trickier Narakari after all.
Still, she wasn't going to complain. It only gave her more opportunities to get closer to the hell equine, and it was the only way they'd managed to get a headcollar on him, which he had resisted at first but now seemed very proud of.

Around the other people at the stable he was easily spooked and liked to stay at the far end of the paddock when they were around. He was too easily frightened to be much of a direct threat, though he had a rather impressive go at making himself threatening when approached, lashing out with flailing hooves.
The other Narakari he was a little more comfortable though. Isì could see from the way he acted that he thought very highly of himself, high-stepping and prone to prancing. It was as if he thought himself above most of them, and was trying to enforce that. The mares seemed rather noncommittal, ignoring the younger Narakari making a fool of himself, so the dun had singled out Tomcat as the target of his many annoyances. Isì had always known they were going to have a bit of a rivalry going, albeit a rather one-sided one. It was rather amusing to watch the chestnut stallion put him in his place, though.

Overall, her time with the new stallion had shown just how tense he was. He's a bit of an escape artist, and likes to pace, fond of bolting from things he finds too much, and shows promise for an eventer with his moves and impressive, if currently uncontrollable, jumping ability. He could literally be spooked by a leaf falling in his head, even whilst 'showing off', clearly needing 'bomb-proofing' if there is even the slightest chance of using him for competitions. Hopefully it is something she can calm over the rest of her training, as he is far too unpredictable for her to entirely trust right now.

Isì catches the eye of the stallion in question, who pauses in his pacing for a second to toss his head back and snort at her. It looks like he's in a showing off mood again, and she holds back her laughter as he trots over to the fence to whicker at Macchiato, who simply blanks him in favour of her training. Yep, he certainly thinks a lot of himself.


Hysmine's halter is black leather to match his striking hellmarks, studded with silver metal squares. It fits with his warrior-like personality, is flashy but practical, and shows his sense of self-importance without being too extravagant. Isì herself added a couple of green gems to match his horns and tie in with her own colours. Isì plans to have his future tack styled in much the same way, when they get to that point in their training.

Personal Item

This is Hysmine's accessory, a bridle charm! I found the idea whilst I was browsing the web for inspiration. Gemstones show status, suitable for this regal boy, and it's also small and not too flashy, almost practical.
As someone with an intense interest in gemstones, this seemed the perfect solution, especially as Isì happens to be a nature spirit with great knowledge of natural healing.

There are 4 gemstones in this charm, all selected for their properties. Sodalite, my personal favourite gemstone. This is supposed to boost trust and calms panic attacks, fitting for a skittish new horse. Turquoise is known for serenity and friendship, to strengthen the bonds between Isì and Hysmine. Jasper reduces stress, and Jade represents trust and relieves tension. Even the charm has meaning - it's the symbol often used to represent Hades - fitting, for a hell horse.

Bonus Task

I had hoped to get to use my tablet but as I ran out of time it became a mouse drawn thing.


It was really just meant as a joke as I strapped that small plastic crown onto her halter. But as she nearly bite me during my try to take it off again I decided to just let her keep it and added a bit of glue and more straps to make sure it had no chance to fall off.

Announcement concerning Day X

Hey guys!

Some of you might already wonder that there was no announcement concerning some Day X contests, yet. I think it's time to clear things up. The reason why there hasn't been any announcement until now is quite simple:

Some of the Day X competitions simply won't take place this year.

The whole big gifting event will be reduced to a few things.
That has nothing to do with the Grand Tournament! But there are a few personal reasons that pulled me to this decision. Without naming anyone or pointing particular situations I have to tell you that some users completely demotivated me. They showed me how much (or better to say how little) they care about all the work that is invested in events, designs and not least all the work behind the scenes.
I'm really sorry for those who are still motivated and at least most of the time happy and enjoy everything. But please understand how hard it is in some situations to deal with all the stuff. Especially as I do all this in my limited free time and sometimes get nothing but a kick into the... well, I think you know what I mean.
So, all in all Day X will happen, yes but just in a reduced form.

I agree with Ruby, I haven't taken part in a Day X event before so I will still be happy with a sampling of what it is. I didn't even know when it was supposed to take place.

I too hope that I haven't contributed to your demotivated feelings. I really love this adopt and it's currently my main adoptable focus. I have just been so busy lately trying to start my own business. You do a really great job here with the species, designs, and events. I truly hope that Narakari continue for a good long time.

I've been working on some sketches, I'll post them when I get them finished.
