Ciriun,

What a cute little critter!

If you're interested in hooves, I'd recommend just trying all sorts of shapes. If you need some inspiration, look at a bunch of equines and even-toed ungulates. Horses, pigs, deer-- you might even benefit from looking at hippos and elephants since they have interesting feet!

Here are some random foot/hoof doodles for suggestions. You're welcome to copy any of them if you like!
If you need animal tutorials, I have some linked in my signature as well

ciriun; gosh such a cute little species! {also your lineart looks so smooth uwu} the reason you're feeling like the face is odd might be because the head is very large in proportion to the legs; i'm not sure if that's the direction you were trying to go in? i also second susiron; take a look at real-life hoofed animals. the species looks slightly lizardy, so perhaps try something split hooves?

also i'm just going to pop in and ask if anybody is any good with drawing kisses because this is my most recent piece and i'd like some feedback because i'll probably be drawing more kisses in the future .n.' i've honest to God only drawn one kiss before this and that was like five years ago so i had to follow a tutorial whoops

Yami Baishi

Oh man kisses can be a pain, but not bad at all! And a very cute looking couple C:
I'd say just be careful about making sure that both characters maintain their dimensions. Drawing one person with their head more turned will make sure that the characters don't flatten out or look like their faces are combining.

Here, I have a few references you might find useful too for future drawings!

Hey Rune! 'v ' Please make sure to read our rules here as we have a rule under the 'When posting art & feedback' section that asks all our contributers here to please comment on other artists artwork before posting your own! If there's artwork posted in the last ten posts before yours, please make sure to comment on it, even if you can't give critique.

@Musicrat I can agree the fingers look kind of awkward! xD It looks like you have the thumb on the wrong side of the hand on his left hand. That whole arm looks really out of place tbh. Maybe have it positioned where it's tucked into the body? It might look a bit natural that way and the hands/fingers might be easier to draw in that position. I really like the depth you've managed to get on the goggles simply by adding a curve of white to each, even as a sketch it really comes across how deep and thick they are.

@Ciriun Very cute! For the feet you don't really want them to be rounded, and you could always try defining an ankle to try and make them look a bit diverse. If you google "horse hoof photography" you can get some really good results to get an idea about what I'm talking about. As for the face you could try defining a chin a bit more to make it look a bit less flat/odd.

@Yami, please try to comment on a few more peoples art when posting, please 'v 'Susiron gave some really good feedback! It's always good to just look up a bunch of stock photos of kissing, even just google image it. You may want to look up some tutorials on facial emotions to help you convey a better sense of surprise or embarrassment as well. Different eyebrow shapes and eye shapes can really effect how the tone of your picture is set.

lmao well it's been AGES since I posted any of my art here.
This is my latest doodle of my pokefusion character, a swoobatxcharizard I nicknamed swoozie for now 'v '
Image
it was just a really quick lazy doodle, but I like how the proportions turned out as I wanted it to be more cutesy/more stylized and less accurate. I wanted it to look a bit silly and out of proportions haha--

I'm still at the point where I can't get a piece of art to the stage where I love it even 90%, as there's always something bad about it that I dont have the skills to fic yet rofl, but I'm sure everyone feels like that 'v '

My best piece to date is probably this one I did for jellykiwi's contest
Image
I drew it I think two wweeks ago--
I'm def' getting better with bg's but I still have a long way to go. Always using plenty of diverse ref's has helped me a lot. I always forget to use ref's but my art is always 10 times better when I do!

@Clowesia
I really like your pokefusion! I personally think charizardx swoobat is a good mix ^w^ I also like the art style you used, its really soft and clean. I would really like to see it when it is colored in (if you plan to do that of course) And your other piece you did for the contest; It is really well executed! You didn't go all crazy with shading and you background doesn't distract from the work as a whole ^w^ I really like them both! Great job!

On the other hand, this is my most recent traditional piece of art I made for someone in my art shop ^^; Looking to see what you guys think and maybe I could get a little critique? Thank you in advance ^w^

Clowesia

I really like that Pokefusion! I especially like the curve of the neck and the way the face is drawn, especially the teeth and snout. It makes me miss when the Pokefusion hype was wayyy big on Tumblr and you saw them all over the place

I also really like the sky in the coloured piece-- that cloud centered behind the character really fills out the piece well and I love how it's painted.

In contrast to the varied sky, the ground might seem a little flat though? Perhaps adding more of a gradient in the sand-- or even just throwing a shadow in-- might help ground the character.

I'm really digging the collar of the character's cloak-- the entire cloak really.

Guys, meet Jekyll. <3 ImageArt and design by me, background image by lovehorses14 on deviantart. This gorgeous boy is the first one of Sydney and Harbour's pups! 8D He is not for sale or trade yet, but I just had to show him off and I would absolutely love opinions and suggestions for how to improve on my refs for the rest of the pups. CX I don't do refs very often, so I would really appreciate tips for improving how I do them. C: I'd also love opinions on his design, if you could offer them, so I know what works and what doesn't. CX
I also made a little puppy tag of him. C: Image I'm still very new to making tags and I'm still horrific at shading/lighting, so some critique on this would be great too. XP Please keep in mind I tried to make the tag a bit more cutesie and less accurate. XD

ToxicLlama: That is such a gorgeous piece! I honestly can't think of any critiques, but it looks great! C:

Clowesia: That Fennec fox anthro looks fantabulous, by the way! I love how simple the background is yet still fitting well into the picture. CX

yami baishi: I unfortunately am very unskilled in the art of human drawing, but your piece is looking great so far! Several artists have provided really helpful links though, I think I may even put them to use in sketches. CX

Ciriun: That's a really cute species! But it does seem a bit bare, maybe think of more body traits to make it more unique?

Rune: I'm not great at humans, but I think the details in the eyes and lips look great! However, you should work on adding more details to the hair and skin so that the eyes and lips don't stand out so much. CX
