Well it doesn't have to be red, I agree.
But I've known very few people that use light colors to draw. It's rare to see unless they are painters
and naturally go from dark to light.

And the two are sisters,
Ola is the mischevious one and Rily the snooty aristocrate.
So they are opposites that bicker but still appreciate eachother as sisters.
I was trying to capture that as Ola giving her a hug and invading her private space to bug her
with Rily kinda mad but like its her sister so ye.

I have no idea xD
Trying my best to capture the relationship.

@Stonefly
I feel like the name Red Hood is familiar, but I can't place it... Anyway, my best suggestion is just to look at pictures of the character from the comics by an artist you like or feel you draw similarly to. Scans Daily might have some good references. The coat looks fine to me, but the shading on the mask seems odd. Maybe make the shadows on it a little darker and give the nose more definition.

@Geinkotsu
I'm not sure what to say about the one girl's face, but as for the other girl's arms that would depend on she feels about being hugged like that. If it's mutual her arm could be around her friend, if they're really close maybe even on her hips. If she doesn't like it then she could be pushing her away at the shoulders. If it's just awkward maybe patting her on the back with one hand while the other is used to keep her from getting closer than she already is.

True, but like your own that was my sketch. I focus better with when what I work with pops out in the sketch. I make the sketch lines thicker so when I make the base lines everything contrasts each other. With a white background I find that I have less focus, like it's stuck in the background as well instead of popping out.

Well you can have Rily grip Ola's upper arm to kinda back her up but with that facial expression it's like she's not trying to force her off. (Rily's arm on top.) On Ola's face she could have a gentle smile but yet a bit sinister as in "I know you don't like it but take it anyway!" kind of way, maybe even part her lips a bit if you want. lol.

Hey guys! I'm pretty excited right now, I've decided that I'm going to be breeding two of my characters to practice my designing and drawing mixed breeds. XD Image Image Both designs and art by MixedIntention. CX These two are very different breeds, so this is definitely going to take some work to pull off and make the puppies fit what breeds went into them, so I am eager to get working on this. 8D I'm also super excited to work on designing, because this pairing offers alot of options for unique puppies. CX I'm super excited, I just couldn't resist telling you guys about this little project of mine. XD

Do you own characters designed by me? (old username is 4dogowner) PM me! I'd love to draw art of some of my older designs, free of charge. <3

Wow, I'm so glad I've found this club! Those tutorials look very helpful - I will be sure to use them in the future, as I still have a lot to learn about being an artist! On a side note, I hope to get a tablet so I can draw and stuff for Christmas - but is it possible to make art on a (non touch screen) laptop? Thanks. :)

@4dogowner

Wow! I really like these designs! I especially like the first one and the variety of the breeds! Good luck on that project!

@Stonefly

It looks really nice. I like the lineart style on this work. It seems as though one shoulder is wider than the other. Make sure to measure things so it looks proportional and equal. And also, one eye looks a bit off; the right one. Is it on purpose? If so, forget what I said just now. Good job!

@Shining armor
I did a redline for ya here(even though i'm not too good at drawing wolves myself :( ): http://sta.sh/01pzvp8znvji

Oi, it's been awhile since last time I posted here. I think I have improved alot, but there is always room for improvement as they say; especially for me. So here is something I'm working on. It is a picture of the Pyro from TF2, somewhat stylized. I tried to do correct proportions, but kind of failed; especially on the fingers like always -_-. Redlines and critiques are most welcome, have a nice day(or night) guys! ;)

4dogowner,

Oh wow, what a beautiful design! I love the colours : D
The anatomy is also quite excellent, particularly the upper body and face. The muscle definition around the shoulders is particularly nice. The only critique I really have is that the hind legs look a bit too straight, and the paws could be more defined.

@Musicart
It's hard to tell much at this stage, but you are right about the fingers. They bend a bit funny. I also think the shoulders may be a little high, but I'm not very familiar with the character.

@Rune.
You could try adding darker shading to the hair to give it more depth, and the arms are a little on the thin side.

Here is my latest creation, the Apatopony! I feel like the face is a bit odd, and I'm not sure what to do with the hooves/feet.
