I think the big realization for me that he
was human was in book nine, Halt's Peril.

Yep. And I saw small hints of it in the other books, but number nine was the major one.

Yeah. I laughed when he told Horace, "We're not infallible."
And Horace is like...whaaa? Yes you are!

[Taim]

Yeah. Horace's quotes and "Ohmagosh!" moments are always funny. As are Halt's rare insights to his childish side.

That one part in book six, where Will and Horace
are under a wheelbarrow...and Horace sneezes...
and Will says something like, "You could try to
make it sound less like an elephant trumpeting
in agony!" I laughed SO hard...

And then the guards up on the wall got nervous saying that it sounded like some kind of large animal in pain. I loved that! and the whole "what rhymes with Redmont" thing made me chuckle too

Yeah, I love the humor in those books. I wish
I could go to the Ranger Camp at Camp Kern...too
bad I don't live close enough...

Well I wish you could go. I know how it feels to want something and know you probably aren't going to get it. (But surprises do happen. )

Yeah. Maybe next summer once we've moved. My
dad says I can get a bow and start archery once we
move. I can't wait. I'm thinking a recurve for my
first bow, then longbow as I move up.

Probably smart. It can really put you behind if you start with something too advanced. Better to start small and work up so that you dont waste any time you could use for training and learning. This lesson is added into the series as well, but it's very subtle.
