Going with really cool! Hopefully it won't take as long for S2 of Race to the Edge to come out, as it did for the second half.
But at least when they do come out, it's all at once

Yeah, I'd rather not have to wait episode by episode.

Also, can we just talk about Snotlout?
I wasn't so sure about him, through the first movie and through Riders of Berk.
And like, even though he can still be a jerk, I kind of understand why he is, and in a way, it makes him a more interesting character then he was before.

In Thawfest, we see Snotlout's competitive side in greater detail, but along that, also see that it's mostly brought on by his father. It brings into question just how much of Snotlout's outward personality is a falsehood, because we see how, towards the end, his need to win becomes more about his fathers disappointment than a legitimate competitive spirit.

When he's stranded on Outcast Island with Hiccup; sure, they have a bit of a falling out, and lets be honest, they never really /do/ get along much, but when toothless tells him Hiccup's been captured, he drops their previous argument entirely under the notion of saving him.

And the episode, "Snotlout gets the Ax"......It's amusing, because he's this seemingly uncaring person, but when it comes to upholding family duties, he makes a hard effort to be on top of it. (Can't elaborate to much, as I believe this is in the second half of the season.)

And don't even get me started on all the time's he's been worried for Hookfang. Geez, the Episode with the Fireworms n' junk was so sad. ;T.T;


I don't know, I just think he's a very interesting Character, now that we've seen him from a few more angles, but I should stop rambling. xD

Snotlout is an interesting character. Especially since, at the beginning of the first movie, we know pretty much nothing about him. As the movie progresses, we see that he enjoys to pick on Hiccup, and then once Hiccup gets popular, he starts to help him out, so it's like he's trying to stay popular or something.

In the books, Snotlout is confirmed to be Hiccup's cousin, his father being Stoick's brother. Even though he is related to Hiccup, the only time he confesses it, is when he is trying to become the heir in Hiccup's place. Until, the 11th book, when he put on Hiccup's clothes, and flew on Hiccup's riding dragon to distract Alvin, who had recently become the King of the Wilderwest. While up there, Snotlout sang a song that was known throughout the Archipelago as a song warriors sang when they knew they would die.

While in the air, Snotlout was shot by an arrow, and killed.

He took an arrow, for the boy he had bullied, the boy he had hated. The boy...that he knew as his rightful king...

Snotlout has good in him, and hopefully the movie/cartoon people will exploit that...just not in the same way Cassandra Cain did hopefully. I'd really prefer that Movie Snotlout stayed alive.

See, I knew the thing about Snotlout being Hiccups cousin from various things I've read on Tumblr, but I never would have known that his book-self died. I would say something about that being dark for a kids series, but look what they did to Stoick.

I guess, going by this new piece of information, than, I would say they at least made an attempt to bring Snotlouts book-self into the mix with the Outcast Island Episode. Like I said, Snotlout largely dropped their argument for the sake of Saving Hiccup, and they did give him a couple close calls with the fighting, if memory serves correctly.



I have to say though, that another character who's struck me as interesting, is Gustav. Specifically, Race to the Edge Gustav.
They're Having him mirror Hiccup in a way, and it became eerily apparent in Gone Gustav Gone. No, it's not just the massive crush on Astrid. No, It's not just his insane desire to be a dragon rider.

Think about it- The Way Hiccup got on him was almost like watching Stoick with Hiccup. ((Examples can be pulled from both movies, even!)) Sure, Hiccup was right in his place to get on Gustav's case, the boy put himself in harms way for the sake of trying to fit in, but wasn't it just in season one that hiccup had done a similar thing? Gustav wanted to Impress Hiccup by finding some treasure of some kind; Hiccup wanted to Impress Stoick by Finding Hamish's Treasure.

Now, I don't think anything Major is going to be done with Gustav; I mean if he were really that meaningful of a Character, we'd have seen him in 2, right? But it is interesting to think about, like Hiccup has a little shadow of the past running around, just a few years behind him.

True. I do love it when he makes an appearance though, because he 's not only trying to copy Hiccup, but if you remember from the season 1 episode he premiered in, he was worshiping and copying Snotlout.

Point taken, though I do tend to think He emulated Snotlout out of fear of the older boy a bit more so than admiration, hah.
He was Using Gustav to do his bidding, you know.
