I was nothing more than an object myself. I was lost in a sea of bristling fur and glistening fangs. They snapped at their prey, tossing it roughly like a child’s toy, snorting their triumph with bitter looks flashing past their irises. I saw no dignity in their foolish game; they had destroyed a fragile creature not for the sake of hunger, but to enjoy a kill and smell the stench of blood. As I watched them dismantle the body of the elk with savage snarls and smeared muzzles, I felt compelled to stop the nonsense the pack had created. I moved in closer, receiving warning snarls and bitter glares from wolves that had once been my pack-mates, now feverishly tearing into the innards of the elk from its torn stomach as though they didn't gave a d*** about my lurking precence.

She looked almost relieved, but there was a flash of disappointment against her light honey eyes, I didn’t even get to eat it. Her thoughts were driven out of place when Griffin went on to ask if she had a Wicked of her own, and the petite girl frowned, unsettled. The question didn’t surprise her, as it was something she asked herself each and every night of restless sleep, but even now Pip didn’t know how to reply. Maybe…Maybe I don’t have one. Pip closed her eyes and sighed inwardly, no. Everybody has a bad side. Even me. “I think I have one,” she said finally, shifting in the puddle as she spoke, “I just see so many others that I don’t need to see my own to know it’s there.” Her words faltered into silence and she smiled down at the rubble ground, moving a piece of chestnut hair over her soaked shoulder blade.

She felt delicately frazzled by the thought of being tempted into dark deeds. Could it be possible that all these years Pip really had a Wicked of her own? I hope to never see the day one of those awful things is by my side. The doe-eyed girl glanced back up at the boy, Griffin, wondering what was going through his mind at that very moment. What had he done to mold his Wicked into something so lifelike? Was he dangerous? Even with these factors at risk, little Pip was too oblivious to consider them into depth.
