There's a few mods I want to try out.
You can download Forge from here: http://files.minecraftforge.net/
What mods are you thinking of trying?
The Aether and CatCraft mods, primarily.
Maybe a Homestuck mod if I can find a good one.
I may also need assistance in installing mods, since Macs work differently than Windows computers.
The only complete-ish Homestuck mod I could find myself was
Minestuck. I haven't played with it yet, mainly because I'm too lazy to swap out all the mods I'm using in my modded survival. But I really do want to play it.
These guides should help for
installing Forge and
Forge mods.
Mostly, the mod creator will provide a link to download their mod. Then you drag whatever file you downloaded from them (in most cases a .zip or .jar file) into your mods folder which is located at
WhateverYouNamedYourHardDrive/
Users/WhateverYourUserIsNamed/Library
/Application Support/minecraft/mods.
So in my case that's Lion/Users/admin/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods.
The only thing that's different or tricky on the Mac compared to windows is that the user library folder where your Minecraft folder lives is hidden by default in OSX 10.7 and later. The easiest way to get to it is to open a finder window, click on "Go" in the menu bar, hold down on the option key, and then click on Library. That will take your user library folder, inside of which you'll find the Application Support folder. Inside of that folder is the minecraft folder and inside of
that folder is your mods folder.
Adobe explains it better than I can.
