I don't think the wood-dog you mentioned should be classed as a dragon. No wings, scales or anything like that and it looks like it's made of oak :3.

I would say a dragon is something with a longs tail and possible manes or wings like the tess dragons. also the highlight in its tail sorta give off a shimmer which are sometimes associated with shiny scales.
