      spoilers everywhere js

      @asgore and randomperson -

if you watched the talking dead afterwards (dunno if you watch it, lots of people dont cx), they explained the whole thing with the eye.
it was done with a dummy and cgi'ed onto chandler's face. it's actually quite hard to pull something like that off, and i personally think they did a great job, especially with the amount of things they did in the episode as a whole.
and, greg nicotero stated how they made it where the bullet didn't go straight through his bloody eye, but instead like, hit the side of it and the bone fragments went in his eye and ricocheted and everything cx

(kinda ninja'd to this but oh well it's already typed lol)

      @mystery -

yeah, once they do one thing, everything else sort of has to hit the fan too, it seems xD
like ah, yeah, let's kill sam, drag down his mother with him (i mean he was her achille's heel so), kill the older bro so he can go visit his pops, and ehhhh why not blow off the eye.

      ------------

i believe that rick is actually gaining his humanity back with that speech tho
that rampage? i mean i dunno
but the speech seems like he's turning around so

i feel like everyone knew the eye thing was going to happen when negan was (sorta) introduced
plus, i'm 100% positive negan and his crew is going to be either the dramatic ending to the season or one of the threats during this half.

@Liz - I definitely knew that Carl's eye was coming, seeing as that happening is a huge part of his character in the comics [I don't read them myself, but I have a cousin who does and loves them and the show] I just wasn't sure how they were going to pull it off, since in the comics it was much more graphic and harsh. My thing is was I just didn't know when it was coming and I was honestly hoping it wouldn't, just because, again, I am a huge Carl fan and I love him to pieces, he's like my baby as well Liz.

It was almost like dominoes or a chain reaction really if you think about it.
Sam died, which caused Jessie to lose it.
Jessie died which caused Carl to be in trouble.
Because Carl was in trouble, Rick had to cut off Jessie's hand.
Because Rick cut off her hand, that caused Carl to fall back.
Because Carl fell back, he dropped the gun.
And because he dropped the gun, that caused Ron to grab it and all of that made Ron lose it too.

I found it interesting how they explained Carl losing his eye on talking dead, and I honestly felt like it was completely and 100% needed, seeing as half, if not all, of the fans were all wondering how they would explain him losing it.

!!!SPOILERS!!!

I haven't posted since the last episode came on but now im back!

Okay, so i loved the whole episode frome begining to end. It got better and better as it got deeper into the episode.

I was glad when sam died. He needed to. He would not have survived long in that world outside the walls. I was sad that his mom died, though (forgot her name, sorry). I was starting to like her and then she died but it probably would have been hard for her to live after watching her son die infront of her. Ron deserved to die for trying to kill Carl and then shooting him in the eye. It also would have sucked for him to live anyway after watching his mom and his little brother die infront of him and having no one left for him.

I was glad that they stuck to the comic by making Ron shoot Carl in the eye. Not just because he will look hot with an eye patch. Its nice to see that the show still sticks to the story with smaller details rather than just keeping the main plot. I liked how they played the scene out, too. And the make up on the eye was great.

I loved when Rick went out to kill the walkers and the whole town joined in. That was true team work. Its was really inspiring. And they killed them all which was surprising to me. I honestly thought they would give up after a while but i guess i underestimated them, oops.

I loved Ricks end-of-episode speach. That was super nice and the way Carls fingers curled around his hand in the end was super sweet and i loved that. It was good for Rick to finally start to understand that he can let other people in to his small group rather than separating his group and the town.

Well, thats my thoughts on the episode, and happy valentine's day!

@Wolf - From watching Talking Dead, what Greg told us was that they cast a head sculpt of Chandler's head and made it out of silicone, which was used for the dummy that was used in most of the at night scenes [Rick carrying Carl, Carl being worked on by Olivia] and the scene where Carl goes "Dad" and looks up and you see it, was CGI, they took a photo from the dummy's face and filmed Chandler's scene, then in editing, edited the eye in.

My guess to why they did this is because, Chandler is still a child actor, and has limited hours on set, so to make it easier they did it like that. From what I know as well Chandler will have a prosthetic piece that we may see from time to time, but I'm not 100% sure I just know Greg provided photos of Chandler wearing it. Most of the time I am sure we will see Carl either with a bandage for awhile, and then either an eye patch or sunglasses, but either way the makeup did look pretty awesome nonetheless.

eeeee! I'm so excited to be back!

!!!!SPOILERS!!!!

I personally though this episode was amazing because everyhing fell in place! I'm not a fan of Carl loosing an eye, but they did do a great job with the make up on the eye! Although I do have mixed feelings about Sam dying it was a great episode in all. So, what are your guys thoughts on this episode? (Oh and was I the only one screaming at Sam when he was crying?)

@Fluffy || -No you were not the only one who was screaming at Sam, I was like, "Sam be a man! Man up!" But then when he died I knew that all hell was breaking loose right then and there, so sad. I don't know how I feel about the fans right around this time actually, has anyone else noticed that some people have actually been LAUGHING at Jessie's death and also Sam and Ron's? I mean don't get me wrong, I wasn't a huge fan of Ron or Sam, and I more or less tolerated Jessie, but I didn't laugh at there deaths, that's just harsh in my opinion.

@sleeper|| -Oh I don't blame you at all for feeling that way about the family, I didn't really like them much myself either xD I do have to agree though about everything you said. Sweet baby Glenn ahh! I feel like they are just doing this on purpose to us as well because they want us to have scares until Negan comes around. But Eugene and Gabriel in this episode-
I was so proud of both of them, I never really cared much for them but after tonight, I think my thoughts might change, especially for Gabriel.

      Yayyy more spoilerss xD

Re: ☢ "We are, The Walking Dead." - The Walking Dead Fanclub

Postby arabella !! » Tue Feb 16, 2016 3:59 pm

I'm soooo late to the party right now! On Valentine's Day I spent time with my significant other, for like the whole day and he isn't really into The Walking Dead so we spent time outside instead. I'm almost at the certain time where you're allowed to talk about the episode with saying "spoiler" or hiding it, but if you still haven't watched the episode yet I suggest not reading this now. (I watched the episode online, still great quality as well). xD

Was I the only one annoyed when Rosita told Eugene to stay behind, not when Jessie told Sam to stay behind, but unfortunately it did not go well, I think Eugene is fine and he has been through a lot and has been also forced by Rosita a lot. He can stay behind if he wants, but I guess she was just checking up on him. I'm glad he's getting better at things!

I read everyone's replies, and I do have to agree with most of the opinions. This episode was a huge shock, and honestly everything came out too quickly tbh. I wasn't expecting Carl to lose his eye this episode, or at all. I guess I was one of those people who just couldn't picture it being that realistic? Plus he is a child actor, so I didn't know about all that jazz but it turned out pretty okay. But I was right that it was gonna turn out more creepy and gore-y. eh? The huge chain when the whole family died kinda blew me away, like I was expecting maybe they keep one like Jessie and let the torture come in but then eventually kill her off? xD Like she could have been lost in thought like what Sam kept doing, but she was snapped back into reality and then they could have all made it out. That would have probably stop all the fan's hearts beat fast, like a little ahhhh moment. There was too much oh no! moment going on that I couldn't stop holding my breath at.

I was impressed by Daryl's badassness, at the beginning especially when he pulled out that freaking rocket launcher I was like, yup! Hell's going down! But it was disappointing that he still didn't get his motorcycle or crossbow back. He's a little more of a target now, but obviously he's not useless but some fans can't see a Daryl without his crossbow. But maybe one day instead of being Daryl the guy with the crossbow, he'll be Daryl the badass with the giant rocket launcher? Lol. I'll miss Sam's family, and I feel like this is going to keep happening to Rick until he realizes, nope! I'm just not ready for a relationship right now, I guess that's what they're doing to me. But I'm glad his family is alright, and that the town stepped in to help. Ron was also annoying when he was about to kill Carl, back then I thought it was one of those 'Glenn and Nicholas' moments, But I guess I was wrong. But then Michonne came in, did what she gotta do, and my train of thought stopped. xD

There were a lot of flashy scenes and fast pauses, which they haven't done in a while which is cool. I really liked Gabriel's part in the episode though, with his speech and all and that he finally has hope in the place and maybe won't try to kill the group off? I mean, he can try but he definitely won't make it that far. I'm glad Denise is alright, her shaky behavior was kinda worrying me but it seemed like everyone did an okay job, a few injuries here and there especially with Carl but it'll be like Brian but instead he'll make it out alive.

@smofir || Nope you're all good as it is 10:45 for me xD but if you haven't seen the episode I suggest not reading this post either.

I have to agree with you 100% about Carl. You were not the only one at all who couldn't see it happening realistically, and it shocked me to see it happen tonight. I thought they would at least spread things out a little bit, but I guess when one thing happens [Sam dying] you had to do it all together. But I think the way they will do it with him being a child actor and all, is they wont show the wound all that often and instead, Chandler will wear a bandage for a bit until he switches over to an eye patch or something. Whatever it is he will wear. But I agree, once Sam died I was holding my breath the entire time and I just couldn't breathe AT ALL after that.

I have to say I was impressed with Daryl as well. At the beginning when Negan's group blew up, I was like, "WHAT JUST HAPPENED-" and my mom said, "Daryl *swear here here* Dixon." and I just grinned because I love Daryl so much xD but near the end he was also fantastic and had perfect timing. I have to say I am hoping he gets his crossbow back, Daryl I don't think is Daryl without his crossbow, or well he's Daryl, but his crossbow is his signature. But even without the crossbow, Daryl is still amazing and can adapt to anything, and so I am really happy with how his character was in this episode.

I really liked how Gabriel stepped up as well, or really all of the characters how they all stepped up to go out and help Rick and the others. I personally loved that they all came together, even the weakest of characters like Eugene and Gabriel. Denise pulling together to help save Carl and getting over her shaky behavior was great too in my opinion, but I worry about how Rick is going to be in the mean time. I mean he lost Jessie and Lori, two women he loved, and he nearly lost Carl, so I worry for him but I'm sure he'll be fine at some point.

Yeah, it's not surprising that Rick might hallucinate again like he did with Lori or might have a longer healing process but I'm sure he won't go as insane like he did when he had the gun and was about to shoot someone at Alexandria. He's not gonna lose it, but he might lose part of him. Judith and Carl is the only blood related he has, he'll do anything for them. Let's hope the whole group can function still with an unstable Rick.
