I love MCR, simply because I think it was unique in that day and age. They were kinds doing something different. Even today you won't find a band like them. They had a good message and they really caught our attention.

I read some of their other articles and I'm pretty sure the whole website is a joke/satire site. It would be even funnier if it were for real though haha

well, idk if its just me, but I don't class MCR as pop punk at all. I think they are rock, some more hard, some more alt rock. Yeah, there is a slight pop punk feel to a couple of songs but for me, they fall into the simple 'rock' category. But tbh its your personal view. Many people said that ATLs new album was pop, others said pop punk, its different with different ears.

@wentz, where is that from? Is it from an actual thing or is it fan made....?

@DestructionIsHere, yeah I agree, they stood out and nobody does that in the way they did anymore. Even some of the more unique rock/punk bands are going more mainstream, not in the pop sense but more mainstream influenced within their genre if that makes sense.

Seems like nobody can ever totally agree on music genres. And with MCR, they evolved so much it's hard to label any two albums as the same genre...Bullets was pretty much just hard rock with even some metal influences, Three Cheers was alternative with some rock/punk and even goth elements thrown in, The Black Parade was some kind of weird pop-punk/Queen era classic rock fusion thing, and I would consider Danger Days pop-punk with a little bit of a dance pop/glam flair. It would be kind of impossible to just label them as one genre alone...but that's kind of what makes most great bands/musicians great, they know how to blend existing styles and make something new and their own.

I had never really heard another band like MCR before I heard of them and even since, while I can definitely hear where they were influenced by other artists now, there's still no one else who has done quite what they did.

yes, I agree, the borderlines as to what fits into what genre is very blurred, so nobody will ever agree. It's the same story with many bands, most notably bvb. Loads of people argue over their genre, when really each song is different, so to use an MCR example, disenchanted is a rather gentle rock song, like you say, most of bullets is rather hard stuff, and then say, planetary (go!) is more of a dancy pop punky rock thing, so that is like you say, the beauty of MCR. They vary so much in their songs, altering genre, yet they all have a distinctive MCR feel to them. The guitar tone for me seems familiar in most, so they have a link between each songs, but they don't make every album the same tone which would be boring. And of course Gee's beautiful voice is in every song c:

I think some of the best bands are the ones that don't try to stay to a certain genre. My Chem certainly proved that. They present so many different styles, almost everyone has heard of them.

I think frerard might have been canon but it ended badly which is why it makes Frank uncomfortable talking about t it but I have this picture of my camera roll which is pure gold.
