i though i'd show off the tokyo ghoul prints i bought at the gold coast supanova yesterday (which was epic). i originally intended to buy one, but i saw a big assorted pack for a discounted price and got that instead ahah. xxx (all by the amazing @eternals on twitter)
i also got photos with several awesome kaneki and haise cosplays, though there were a few i was too shy to ask, but it was really cool anyway!

i have my eye on the upcoming kaneki figure that releases in the US around october, two months before my birthday

its 110 bucks but quite frankly i dont care

[major tokyo ghoul manga spoilers]


So, I have no idea how they're going to do :re.
First off, many of the things in :re were triggered by manga only events, such as the clowns being behind everything.
Also, anime only fans don't know what happened to Kaneki. In the manga Arima stabbed both his eyes out and he started
saying random phrases as he went insane. And, what seemed to end Kaneki was both his human half and ghoul half said to each other,"Let's rest a bit," which seemed to me that when Kaneki became Haise, his consciousness sort of took a break, if that makes any sense? Also, I don't remember if Kanae was even animated, and he has a large part in :re, and if you don't know about him, many part of :re will not make sense, such as how he really likes Tsukiyama and speaks about him a lot. Since anime-only fans don't know about Uta being a clown, the auction raid makes absolutely no sense, as well as the fight with Uta. Another thing is Tsukiyama. Since they reduced him to a mindless appetite. In the manga however, he truly begins to care about Kaneki, which explains how crushed he was when Kaneki 'died.' As stated in the manga, he's in a depression about Kaneki 'dying,' which wouldn't make sense to anime-only readers, as I explained earlier. They're going to butcher :re, I just know it. Another thing is how they portrayed Kaneki. Kaneki is actually very smart, and a quick learner. In the first season, Kaneki gets tricked into going into the ghoul restaurant. But, that's not actually the case, because in the manga, Itori asks Kaneki to try to get information about the ghoul restaurant, so Kaneki spends time with Tsukiyama in order to find out information about it. And he intentionally goes to the ghoul restaurant, but it's a bit different then he thought. And Haise is pretty smart as well. I really hope they won't ruin any of the characters.

*SLAMS FIST ON TABLE* I AM CONVINCED THEY WILL COMPLETELY RUIN IT DAMMIT

like, i haven't even WATCHED the anime due to all the secondhand embarrassment about the mischaracterization. but anyways~

i definitely feel like the whole haise situation won't make sense w/o the fight with arima. how would they explain kaneki getting amnesia?? the best prediction i can come up with is that kaneki will fight arima at the very beginning of the season, and the outcome will be somewhat similar.
the only problem i have with this is that it will be way less anticlimactic and suspenseful than it would be if it were placed at the end of a season . . . only waiting a week for the results of the fight seems a little bit rushed (in comparison with the wait for tkg: re).

was kanae ever in the manga/anime before re? i don't think he was, unless they randomly decided to put him in root a, i guess. but even then, he'd probably be mischaracterized as hell. i HOPE he wasn't in root a.

they'll probably make tsukiyama's depression another drama-queen joke AS USUAL BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST HORRIBLE TO TSUKIYAMA UGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IANPWIHPI89P I CANNOT STRESS HOW MUCH THIS AGGRAVATES ME

WHAT IF THEY ACTUALLY TALKED TO ISHIDA AND FOUND OUT THE FUTURE PLANS FOR RE AND HE TOLD THEM HE WAS GOING TO KILL OFF HIDE AND THEY WERE JUST LIKE "WELLLLL, WE COULD PROB JUST KILL HIM OFF A SEASON EARLIER IN THE ANIME THEN ANYWAYS"
i am ded this better not be the case smh bc then manga hide would be dead fo sure

what i have to rant about how theyre going to butcher :re just like they did the first two seasons has already been said

like they literally reduced a lot of characters in the anime its not even funny (think touka holy snap that makes me rly angry) and plus they threw in all this foreshadowing but did nothing with it. dr. kanou? HAH who cares about that arc? the twins literally did nothing and werent even explained at all in the anime, plus, again, with the clowns not being truly revealed and etc and it just makes me really angry. they MUST NOT ruin haise i swear to god if they do im going to AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

and thats just the surface! i accept the fact that root a had a different story line, but a lot of it still comes from the manga regardless of what anyone can argue. the whole thing is referenced from the manga, just portrayed differently--they could've pulled it off, they could've, but they didn't give tokyo ghoul the amount of episodes it needed to be really great. like shingeki no kyojin, they took like 30 chapters into 22 episodes and i came out feeling VERY satisfied, even if they did make some minor changes. heck, they even announced that they were going to wait for more of the manga came out before they started season two!

but tokyo ghoul. tokyo hecking ghoul. did not get that chance. and THAT is what utterly destroyed it from being a great anime. all those wonderful literary allusions, that symbolism, foreshadowing....GONE. RUINED. DESTROYED. all of ishida's wonderful work down the drain because they did not give it the budget it needed. sure, studio pierrot, give a lot of episodes for naruto but disregard tokyo ghoul (which can be argued that tokyo ghoul is vastly superior than naruto when you think plot wise and character wise, but i still love naruto nonetheless)

since root a was so bad though im not even going to bother watching :re when it comes out. i cant watch them butcher my poor children even more than they already did

also i think manga hide will probably live to the end of the series like hes obviously such an important character (especially to kaneki's character development) but it just depends on which way ishida wants to take his manga. the BEST ending i expect from him is probably a very ambiguous ending and thats the way i would prefer if we cant get a happy ending--but if we get a horrible ending im going to cry my heart is already torn and ripped apart by ishida so many times

aufhrsiug i cant stop ranting over how bad the anime is. the first season was decent--it just neglected the story and the character development that came with the very important stuff they skipped/modified (kaneki vs bin brothers and stuff). it had good animation and music, too, but root a. oh my god. i really liked root a's soundtrack and the seiyuus behind the characters, but other than that, it was just bad. i only watched the thing for the ending illustrations that ishida does because his art is holy

sigh, but at least we still have the manga. the amazing manga thatll destroy us. thats okay though, its worth it
