Do you all have a character with a horribly sad back story?

Uh, well Darius pretty much spent years 5-23 forced to learn pretty much everything, and was stripped of all emotion and rights.
It's too lengthy to go into detail but yeah it's pretty sad.

And then there's also Leslie who spent 20 years in the same run-down room with only his senile dad for company. It's kinda sad when you look at it.

I don't like 'sad', I'm more keen on grimdark.

a lot do, but i don't stress it too much or it becomes like the new avatar series where every single character seems to HAVE to have a sad backstory, LOL

All of my characters have some sort of depressing backstory.
Well, if they didn't, what was the point in having a story in the first place? The point of a story is to have a challenging topic/theme where someone overcomes a challange or learns something. So there isn't much of a all-happy story then, unless it's just a back story, but you would need to have some sort of issue in it, if you wanted it to be interesting.

Do a majority of your characters have a certain orientation or are they mixed (like, you have quite a bit of straight characters, bi characters etc.)
A lot of my characters tend to be bisexual actually, then the others are straight and then I have a small amount of homosexual characters too c:

Do any of your characters have something to do with you in either their design or personality?
A lot of them do actually, I seem to put a little bit of me in each of my characters. Erin has my personality and rebel side, Ellie has my love of dreamcatchers, Valerie has my love of vintage items and favourite color and Pip has my birthmark x3 wooww... didn't realize I had that much...
