@Qualeo - OMG she's gorgeous ovo
Finally decided to dump some of my really long overdue answers here haha
So fair warning, long post ahead ^^"Pick a few characters.Fritz,
Nero,
Lithium,
Caroline, and
ToriWhat is/are their relationship[s] like? How do the know each other? Do they view the other[s] in a positive or negative way? Why do they view them like that? Is it personal experience or something they heard about them?Fritz | Lithium : Up until pretty recently, they really did not like each other much even though they're cousins. She wanted him dead and he was definitely frightened of her. I mean who wouldn't be scared of a six foot tall killer animatronic cat out for your blood? Though recently it improved drastically when Lithium realized Caroline had murdered hundreds if not thousands of people already, and Lithium decided to leave and to try to convince the others to not try to kill him. At least Fritz is related to her.
Fritz | Caroline : She hates his guts. She wants him dead with all of her being [even though she knows perfectly well it was technically Nero that killed her] , and he's honestly terrified of her, and for good reason too.
Tori | Lithium : Though the sisters are great friends and very close, Tori has always been the more dominant one and Lithium has always been inclined to obey her elder sister even against her better judgement. Recently when Lithium uncovered the truth about Caroline, Tori refused to listen as she was too absorbed in her quest for vengeance. Lithium leaving was a huge shock to her and was also a way for Lithium to declare her independence from her sister and do what she knew was right.
Fritz | Tori : She definitely hates him and wants him dead, though not nearly as much as Caroline. Mostly she's hurt by what she considers to be a betrayal of her trust, though she didn't really stop to consider why he may have killed her and it certainly never crossed her mind that he had been possessed and had no choice. He is somewhat frightened of her, though he's also growing tired of the needless hate and he wants to tell her the truth yet he also knows she's too proud to listen to him or common sense.
Fritz | Nero : [This one has the potential to get extremely complicated depending on which version[s] of Nero we're talking about, but we'll just Keep It Simple Stupid and go with the ghost version.] At first Fritz may have hated Nero for what Nero forced him to and also feared him for his powers and how absolutely unpredictable he was, though now it's more along the lines of intense dislike, annoyance, wariness, and resigned acceptance of the fact there's really nothing he can do. Nero may have viewed Fritz as nothing more than a tool at first, a means to affect the physical world and take out his anger on
something instead of allowing it to continue to build up inside him. His opinion is still rather
neutral, though he is certainly somewhat impressed by Fritz's willingness to go against anyone or anything to ensure the safety of those he cares for. Now a sort of uneasy truce exists between them where neither will bother the other.
Nero | Caroline : If there's one person Caroline wants dead more than Fritz it's definitely Nero. She's also incredibly enraged at his cold indifference and the fact that as far as gods and powers go she's just no match for him and he can defeat her with ease most of the time. He's more annoyed by her incessant attacks than anything else and really just isn't impressed by all her idle threats. He thinks she works way too hard to get revenge and is incredibly impatient, because if there's one thing they have in common it's their desire for revenge, except he's willing to wait as long as necessary to take his revenge.
Nero | Lithium : The two know of each other but not much about each other though Lithium is a bit resentful that it was technically Nero who killed her.
Nero | Tori : Again, these two know of each other but barely know each other, though Tori mainly ignores him and that's fine with Nero.
Caroline | Tori : Tori is a bit in awe at what Caroline can do and isn't afraid to do, and is afraid to stand up to her or oppose her because Caroline has made it abundantly clear that she's not above harming Diesel or anyone else Tori is close to. Caroline takes full advantage of this and uses her almost as a spy, to get close to the other children and to learn about them so that Caroline can better manipulate them.
Caroline | Lithium : Caroline could kind of control Lithium in a roundabout way through Tori, though it didn't always work out too well. When she directly spoke to Lithium, Lithium was always asking questions. Lithium always unnerved Caroline because it seemed like she always knew things she shouldn't be able to know. Lithium was always questioning Caroline's authority and sometimes refused orders just to spite Caroline. Caroline never punished her insubordination out of fear that Lithium would reveal all the horrible things that Caroline had done and turn the others on her.
Choose a character to answer these questions with.Nero again because I can and these questions just really seem to fit him |D
How can you tell when they don't like someone? He usually scowls at them and is just more unimpressed with them in general. Definitely a lot quieter around them, and far more likely to growl or snap at them.
How can you tell when they're angry with some one? He'll usually be growling at them and threatening to kill them if he's mad enough |D
Forgive or Forget? He's not very good at forgiving and forgetting is not very likely to happen when your brain is enhanced with a computer.
How do they handle others not liking them? He'd more or less be like "Yes one less person I need to worry about for liking me".
How do they handle others being upset with them?He really honestly wouldn't be too bothered, though depending on what they're upset with him for he'll probably say something like "Well then if you wanted it done right you should've done it
yourself". Or maybe he meant to anger them in which case well he wouldn't be bothered at all because he probably doesn't like them very much in the first place and would probably find a way to continue enraging them |D
If you could only keep one of your characters, who would it be?This question
Just
Why
I wouldn't be able to decide which 50 to keep much less just one, though honestly if it really came down to it, I'm not sure if I'd choose to keep
Portalis, Fritz, Nero, or
Etho though I hope it never actually comes to that.
Do you have any characters based on characters from movies, TV shows, video games, etc?*shoves Fritz, Nero, Jeremy, and
Mike forward* Cough, Fritz Smith the Night 7 nightguard from Five Nights At Freddy's 2, the purple man, Jeremy Fitzgerald the main protagonist in Five Nights At Freddy's 2, and Mike Schmidt the nightguard from the original Five Nights At Freddy's.
Out of your characters (excluding your fursona if you have one), which would you say you identify the most with?Again not sure if it would be Fritz or Nero |D With Fritz it would definitely be that he dislikes hurting other people, physically, mentally, or emotionally, though if he catches you hurting someone he cares about he wouldn't be so lenient and that he doesn't judge people until he gets to know them better. With Nero it would be the persistent irritability, dislike of physical contact, and bad people skills in some areas, such as sometimes not wanting to be alone but doesn't want to say anything about it, difficulty confiding in people, and a hard time asking for or admitting that he might need some help.
Out of all your characters, who has the most art? Give a list of the top 5 characters who have the most art.The number one with most art is Portalis by FAR. Vast majority done by me, whether digitally, traditionally, or colored, with a few that were commissioned or gifts. Then I think it's Fritz, Tori, and Nero, though I think for the most part it's pretty close between them. Not really sure after that, but I think fifth with most art is likely
Silatrop.
Do you have any popular characters, whether they're popular in the story/universe they're in or if they're just hands down popular? How do they feel about it?Nero is, or at least was I'm not sure anymore, very popular in real life when I first started up the ask topic. So much so I had to introduce a new rule that prevented any overly 'fangirly' questions XD Oh man he hated it so much.
How many unique species characters do you own?"Unique species" as in "only one of their kind and not just a heavily mutated other species" then I honestly have no idea. At a really rough estimate though I'd say around 30 - 50. All are different though I suppose they could all generally be called demons X3
How many anthro characters do you own? Was going to say "none" when I remembered
Coal, and I guess if animatronics count as anthro then you can add the 81+ plus animatronic characters I have [300+ if you count all of their different forms so uhhhh I have no excuse as to why I have so many |D]
Which characters (that you designed) are you most proud of?Electron for sure is one,
this unnamed fella,
another unnamed guy,
Toro, and these two unnamed
animartonic panthers.
Would you rather have a thread for naming characters, or ranking them on the difficulty of their design?Hmm, I don't know. I think I would prefer a difficulty ranking thread because I prefer to come up with names for my characters by myself as I feel it helps me connect to them more ^^
Who is your most stylish character?Hmm, this one does technically have a definite answer but since I'm trying out for him at the moment...beside from him though, I'm going to go out on a limb and say either
Zara,
Stacy (right), or
Amelia (5).
Do you ever mate your own characters together? If so, why or how did they end up being mates?Occasionally yes I'll find pairings I like among my own characters, though usually any relationships they end up in will likely be more romantic than anything, and any offspring I make for them will likely be deemed "ship children" and stay unofficial.
Do you have difficulties getting mate art or ship art of your characters? If not, how do you go about getting art of your couples or ships?Chances are if I'm not drawing ship art my friends are |D Though for pairings between my own characters I definitely prefer to draw my own ship art for them. Sometimes though it's not getting the art that's a hassle, it's actually choosing which characters I want to ship and if it's actually a good ship that will work out in the end |D
Which was your first character? Your first sona?I can't remember who my very first character was, maybe I'll be able to solve that mystery if I ever actually go dig out my really really old sketchbooks and drawings, but my first sona, in a rather loose sense, was Razorstar.
Which ones are your faves? (Max of 5)Fritz and Nero are kind of no duh, as is Portalis, likely followed by
Wheatley and Electron.
Have you ever received gift art of your characters? If so, share your favorites~This by far :
[by ospreybutt @ DA]What traits would you look for in a closed canine based species?Things that haven't been done before. I guess maybe less fur to give them a more sleek look? But I would say try to avoid the poofy lion tails because they're so overused, and if you use things like horns, feathers, and wings, do something creative with them, things you don't see very often.
Do you prefer closed species over characters that don't belong to one?I feel like closed species can be way too strict sometimes, and I just really
don't want to deal with all the drama that comes with a popular species. Occasionally one will catch my eye and I
might try out for it if I
really like it and feel connected and it's
not from a really really popular species. I really hate pouring my heart and soul into trying out for something where I know there will be countless other people willing to go to far greater lengths that I might not be able to go to. Also I just feel like it's far FAR easier to tailor a regular canine, feline, equine, whatever, to fit exactly what you want, whereas with closed species there are usually dozens of requirements they must meet and restrictions.
When creating a new character, how do you come up with a palette or design for the character? When I create them on paper, in my mind I get an idea of
roughly what colors I would like to use, and for the design I usually just think really hard and lightly sketch a concept of the design as I picture them in my mind. Both traditionally and digitally I take into account the character's personality and to an extent their past, like for a few examples if the character tends to be not such a great person or is just not very happy in general I definitely use more dark colors, if they're more cheery I use brighter colors, if they're more shy I usually go with pastel, for more moral or 'good' characters I try to incorporate white, and for the more mysterious characters I like to make their designs subtler. For the more aggressive ones as well you'll probably want to use darker colors, and as a general tip I find that designs tend to be much more appealing with lighter colors on the bottom [such as belly, throat, inside of the wings if they have wings, etc.] and darker on top [ears, bridge of the nose, back, top of the tail, etc.]. I like to use
this site for color meanings because sometimes they can help you figure out roughly what colors you might want to look into using based on your character's personality. Sometimes though I just kinda go with whatever design or colors the standard appearance of the critter goes with, or whatever the song I'm listening to reminds me of.
When choosing a character (or a personality for a character), how do you decide? Do you go with a personality like your own or one that seems to suit the character? If the choosing is like adopting, etc., I go with a design I connect with, one that just really catches my eye and that I can easily see being a part of my characters' universe. When creating a personality for one, I try to first get an idea of what their purpose or role is in the universe, where they fit in, which can help me get a feel for roughly what personality might be ideal for them. I try imagining what things it is they're supposed to be doing, have done, or might do, and just try to imagine many different scenarios with them so I can get a more solid and consistent personality laid out for them. Usually unless it's my fursona I try to avoid giving them a personality like my own, but then again in all of my original characters is a part of me.
When you get a new character (one that's a blank slate), how do you being to develop them? (Like names, personalities, relationships to other characters, etc.)I always start with figuring out their
purpose. What's their role, what do they do, are they friends with someone important in the story, or maybe enemies, possibly love interest? From there throughout the entire process I'm usually listening to music which I think might fit their design as I try to figure out the rest. This tends to also somewhat influence their personality, though it depends. From there I always start with choosing their gender, and then I try to get a feel for what personality fits them and begin to get an idea of basic personality before going to think about a name for them ^^ Relationships, whether romantic, friendly, or other, I try to take into consideration the characters' personalities and try to figure out how they'd react to each from there. Sometimes though I'll make a character whose backstory ends up tying into the backstory of some of my other characters. When that happens I develop their relationship from there forward to see how they react to each other over time and how things have changed between them.
If your oc had a theme song(s)/song(s) that matches their appearance what would it be?At the moment I believe only two of my characters have themesongs; Fritz and Nero. Fritz's is My Demons by Starset, and Nero ended up with two, Madness In Me and Circus For A Psycho, both by Skillet.
Do you feel it's wrong to give your characters problematic faults? Why or why not? It's perfectly fine to me. It makes for a far more interesting and in-depth character.
What type of personality can you most connect with in a character?Depends on my mood really, but something I've noticed consistently in the vast majority of my favorite characters is an underlying viciousness that may not be obvious at first or may only surface in certain situations or around certain people so uh...
Do you give your characters back stories? If so, are the happy or tragic?I definitely try to at least get a vague idea of a backstory for my favorites and my more important characters for sure, and though I sometimes try to do otherwise they almost
always end up really dark and to a point tragic. And honestly, sometimes I just love making my characters
suffer.
For those of you who enjoy writing stories for your characters: Which of your characters do you tend to write the most about or for?I rarely actually write stories about my characters, but I'm always imagining stories for them. Those characters that I am or have imagined plenty of stories for are Portalis, Tori, Nero, Fritz, Gordon, Chell, Isa, Wheatley, Casper, Sophie, Kozmos, Zenstar, and Razorstar.
Have you ever had a character concept, but don't know if you could make it yourself or if you'll be able hire someone to make it for you?A few times yes. It happened a bit with Tiberius, where I wasn't quite sure what his design should be and it took me a few weeks to figure out a good one, and recently I've been having serious issues with the design of a yet unnamed character who's purpose is pretty much completely thought out except for literally one thing but I'm going to insist on keeping them mostly secret because reasons that even I don't really know.
What are your deal breakers when it comes to buying characters and characters in general?Usually any rules along the lines of "can only be bred x amount of times", "cannot be changed to another species", and "cannot be revamped", and I also dislike paying uncommons + or C$ for designs unless I really really like and connect to the design. I also dislike adopting/buying characters that have been used and are being sold / adopted or resold / readopted because I feel like the character's past information etc., will severely limit and influence what I can do with them, and it feels like the character isn't really mine if it still retains traces of it's original self that I'm not allowed to change.
Would you sell one of your very first characters if you never use them any more? ( And if you wanted to see them being loved and used.)Ahahah I really don't know. Ember, Zenstar, and Razorstar I'd never be able to give up in a million years, and for all the others I honestly truly don't know. I
have debated selling some older characters I've done nothing with but I haven't ever really put thought or effort into actually doing it, though I know that I can't give them all the love they deserve and that I've done nothing with them and really need to downsize anyways. It's just never been something I could ever bring myself to consider, much less actually do. I guess it's just that I've always believed strongly in a character finding his/her/their/xir forever home and it always just sort of felt...wrong to sell or readopt them, though I can't really say why...
What's your favorite piece of art that you've gotten in the past month?Definitely this one :
