Wowza Ruby!!! I love how her markings came out!! How the heck!!!??? I tried so many different brushes and still don't think I came close to her true speckling, and front view! I avoid that like the plague! Yours is brilliant, I almost don't want to post mine...I was having terrible time with anatomy, my hands have been shaking for days now, and I'm not sure why...but anyway here is my attempt at the contest, I'm pretty sure my goal was to shade it and have a background but my art has been suffering for a couple weeks...

They both look great! I'm afraid my art skills are horrible and I don't want to draw on paper right now. Mostly because there is no paper that I can draw on XD
I still can't draw digitally.. I've watched many tutorials too, but they didn't help..

The best way to get better is just to ignore how bad you think it is now and keep practicing. It will get better. And often times it's not as bad as the artist may think. If you're using a mouse to draw it will be harder than it would be with a drawing tablet but it is still possible to make some very nice images with a mouse if you work at it enough.

I still haven't started my entry yet. This month has been going by so fast and a lot of my contest deadlines have been passing me up. I'm still shooting for an entry for this one and I hope that I'll have the motivation to work on it whenever I get the chance. I've been working on practicing other stuff lately like getting my speed up, shading, and humans. I also still have a Narakari Christmas gift planned, but I haven't started that yet either. I've been horrible at getting around to my art lately. I intend to kick myself though and produce a lot more art this year.

Oh, and both drawings of Bethany look great. Her speckling is scary but you both did a good job of it I think.
I would like to own 1 of every pet; no more, no less.

@Cavy's Girl
Wow, you'rs is beautiful! You did a great job on your coat, and the horn looks amazing! I love how you did the hooves :thumbup:
You really don't want to know how I did those speckles :lol:
One little dot at a time...it took me hours to get it to look right ;)
I'm really happy with how it turned out tho :)

@TheFabulousHorse
I couldn't draw on paper to save myself, the art program I use on my ipad is the most basic thing available (just a pen, a paintbrush, an eraser, and a 42 colour palette, no fancy bells and whistles) so I just do my best? It might not be great, it might look terrible, but at least I had a go at it :thumbup:
Sometimes just drawing a picture can be a win? When the mood strikes me to do art, I go for it...sometimes it works, sometimes not, but I'm getting a bit better at colouring each time, so that's a help?

@Teeze
Best advice ever! :mrgreen:
Especially when you live with two people who are hobby painters and both super good at it *facepalm*
I think the art gene skipped me and went to my sister :lol:

(I don't do art very often because I have a medical condition that makes it hard for me to hold anything for too long, and I can't grip properly, so I have to work through a fair amount of pain to get anything finished, which is why it either takes me weeks to finish something, or if I plow through, I might be able to get it done in hours and suffer for it later)

Every. single. dot. Holy Carp Batman! That's amazing!!!! <3 <3 <3 no wonder it looks so artistically well done!! <3

Lol super simple (at least in PSE, the horn was done at 50% color which gives it the clear look, added some shine on top (ie. White) then the hooves are just 3 different colors 1 base, 1 light using a fuzzy brush, and 1 dark also with the fuzzy brush!)

I have to say I'm totally spoiled with PSE, so many different brushes and it makes layers super easy!! (I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a program!!)

*LOL* oh lord no, I have enough trouble remembering how to use my simple program...I wouldn't even know what to do with all those options :lol:

I love that we all use different art programs tho, it means there will always be so many pretty variations of fanart to choose from, and no two will ever look alike :mrgreen: :thumbup:

Yay, Daddy Yama is back! >.<

Guys, I don't think anyone would eat you for non-perfect spots on an appy. Because appys are cruel and hard to draw and complicated and... just love. <3 So don't worry about perfection. I'm pretty sure it won't affect your winning chances if some spots are wandering around.

And as I'm back again:
My exams were cruel with a total technical blackout DURING my lecture. But everything turned out good. I passed them quite good in the end and now I have much more time to draw.
As I speak about drawing: new premades will pop up, soon. I just need to give them a short personality and the fitting genetics. The custom and semi-custom orders are on a good way, too. But I have to wait until I'm back home to send first previews via pm.

^^'

Ok, my brain is some kind of strainer, I think. 'Cause there were questions I had for you all.

Do you think I should add heights to the premades as well? They already have a short personality and an age. It was up to you how big they are, until now. (As long as it was within the regular range)

aaand, maybe even more important:

I have a completely new event for this years big tournament in mind. Would you guys cry endless tears if you won't be able to use one of your Narakari for it?
(I don't want to reveal too much now. Maybe later, after some answers. ;) )

aaaaaand last but not least:

I had the idea about making some premades that are inspired by more or less famous dressage (or other sport) horses. What do you think? Want some?
