From what I have understood, they keep mating in siv until they have either found a mate or become sterile. Kam will have to get to you on that one better though.

after thinking about it..
i'd guesstimate 5-15 since they aren't always in a harem during the siv.
and they have to nurse a kid for 2-3 years..
also they might want a break.
but thats just my input.
