But I also don't really understand how the kids would develop language growing up alone (ie the feral child, Genie), let alone a common language. Should I just gloss over those details?

Hmmm... that is interesting. As far as reading, perhaps when his parents replenished his food supply they also left books. Most of the early ones were picture books, and through them he puzzled out the concept of words and basic meaning. As he got older they started leaving chapter books and so on and so forth.
When it comes to language, maybe there were some battery powered radios and cassette tapes left behind in the city? Or everyone has subconscious power that they can all understand/learn language very very quickly, and learned it before they were abandoned? Eeeh. The language problem might be better to simply gloss over.

hello, lily here! i've been sorta mia for a while, so sorry about that. but with summer here (and apparently less homework in my next year of school than my last) i'll have more time, and i'll be on here to roleplay! i might remake one (or two, or all three) of my harry potter roleplays that are on as, one's marauders era, one's next gen with albus/james/lily etc., and the last is next gen with teddy and vic, so if anyone'd be interested in those (or knows of similar roleplays that are active on there, or here, really) then if you could let me know, that would be awesome! i plan on snagging james or maybe severus for the marauders, james and the scamander twins in next gen, or vic in the other next gen.

It would be easier to gloss over them, but after pointing them out they're rather hard to just ignore. I would maybe just bring it up/point it out to the owner that if they were brought there very young and then grew up completely seperated from each other, they wouldn't have developed a common language and what was developed probably wouldn't be fluent English. I mean tapes could have been left behind but how do kids connect the meaning from words on a tape to their meaning without being shown?

I just kind of imagined that an abandoned city would have some books lying around. I also thought about the TV/radio thing, but I don't want to assume anything because I've already stepped on the OP's toes once. (I had initially made the paint a permanent mark as a kind of curse, which was apparently no bueno.)

Oh goodness. Life has been so hectic.. moving sucks.

I suddenly had a huge awkward burst of muse. I kind of want to make a RP that's a mix of a normal RP and then a choose your own story.. Kind of. I just have no idea how to approach it.

I know it would be a horror type of thing with zombies, dragons, zombie dragons and magic lurking around every corner.. Curses, firestorms, traps, all that kind of stuff. I also know I would basically play narrator plus a character.

"You've passed through the door with the fire dagger etched into the wood. Before you sits a white, luxurious pelt that seems to have come from a polar bear and a basket with a singular apple in it. The basket seems to resonate with magical energy while the polar bear skin seems to twitch every now and again from the corner of your eye." <- This is basically an extremely small version of what I would probably post after every choice.

I kind of envisioned it like a PG Saw kind of thing.. The character's lives are on the line which forces them to move on and tensions are really high, resulting in lots of fights and all that.

I may also have a limited number of characters, "the country girl, the scholar, the geek, the animal enthusiast, the blah blah, blah blah." etc. Not sure about this yet though..

Does anyone think this kind of thing would get interest? And if so would anyone want to help me work out some kinks?

For the past few months, I've been creating this kind of Warrior Cats Clan-dystopia—type RP.

Basically, a big group of cats living in harsh mountains attempts to create a Clan with what limited knowledge they know of the original Clans, but the plan backfires and the 'Clan' evolves into this whole new society that's a 'Clan' only in name. There are a few really harsh rules to ensure the safety of the Clan, and if you break certain ones you are faced with immediate banishment into the wild; not many cats are entirely happy with this setup, but most of them were too scared to contradict the leader, and the few who did ended up banished. But after a long while, all the banished cats eventually built up their own little group and managed to survive in the mountains; I don't want to reveal too much, but rebellion ensues with the uncertain cats in the Clan and the banished ones facing off against the actual Clan.

Wow, that was a bad explanation. Would anybody be interested in this, however?

Awesome! What do you think about the preset characters? I don't really want them to be your average run of the mill list.. I want something a little different if I even go with presets. I'm always nervous about them because it puts so much responsibility on someone and I'm notorious for not being able to handle that responsibility. ;>.> Not gonna lie.

And do you see any faults that need work or anything that could be improved? Or perhaps any ideas that might make it more.. attractive?

@Greenleaf; Much interest here! I'd join. It would be a perfect place for me to use my butt-head kitty again, haha.

@folly+zmija;; i have a few questions about how it'll work, you know? like, i'm not sure how much room there'll be for interaction between the characters, and then there's also the question of how often there'll be a choice and who gets to make the final decision on it if the characters disagree. perhaps they could have the opportunity to elect a leader or spokesperson every so often to be the final word on decisions? and the presets can be really interesting, sticking together sorts of characters that usually don't interact, but it does take a lot of tastefulness and planning, especially in a roleplay like this. if you make them less specific than some roleplays do, just give them a couple traits that have to stay, and leave a lot more room for the character to be fleshed out in whatever way the roleplayer wishes, it should be fine- ex. if you have "the flirt" or whatever, you could have traits like "good looking" "flirts with anyone they have even a glimmer of interest in" "is actually really nice" and things like that, you could have a character of either gender and any sexual orientation (they could even be asexual and only have romantic interests) and have all sorts of weird quirks, if that helps...?

@thorissa;; that sounds super fun, i'd definitely be interested!
