I like that alchemy is area specific (and tailoring?), it means that you have to interact with another village to get the potion you need. But all the other professions seem to keep the areas to themselves. Like what use is it to a Foxbury Villager if they have the cure for Vertigo.
Idk I would like the idea of being able to completely master being a doctor for example, and be able to cure every illness in the game cx
Unless in the future we'd be allowed to temporarily visit other villages?
That way you'd have a chance to catch the local illness

If it's possible to make cures for other villages, you can still try to sell them, right? Granted, is it really worth the trouble finding materials outside of your village?

I manged to get another villager this morning and made her a warrior so now im trying to save up for a fourth villager and im not sure what i want them to be. Either a doctor, herbalist or alchemist. I'm kinda assuming the doctor is the most useful but i want to know what other people think of the other two and if they might actually be better or not.
(I have an explorer, animal husbandry and warrior just now)

I would suggest a herbalist. You already have an explorer to get seeds. A doctor relies on a herbalist anyways, so you can't really make cures without them unless you buy your ingredients from the stalls. With the herbalist you can either save up all of the harvested plants for when you have a doctor or sell the plants to make some extra fc, or both.
please do not send me random trades, i will only ignore them!
if i have a pet that you've got your eye on just send a pm to discuss. ;D

@Insigne
Somebody said that it isn't possible, and perhaps it isn't worth it, but some people might like the feeling of completion?
But i guess, i would much rather it if other villages had a good reason for buying a different village's cures
Edit: One of my villagers has caught Neptunes Disease Dx (the major illness of Oceandome) I think it has the same effect as the minor ones, but the cure costs more. To make it you need: 25 Teal trumpets, 25 fur coral, 1 wriggling algae, 1 seaweed vine and 250 FC ;_;

No need to apologize! There isn't a huge difference between villages besides personal preference. I suggest looking at the picture I posted on the first post of this thread for an idea of each village and choosing whichever you like most.
As a tip, try to use your starting currency to buy an extra villager slot. And have at least one Explorer in the beginning.

Oh no, I didn't mean add more illnesses-- I'd cry if we got more of them, lol. I more meant being able to cure other villages' stuff. Though I guess that doesn't make much sense unless we end up going there in the future. Unless we're just highly competitive doctors who wanna be the best of the best. Or help their out-of-town friends.
@Junebug
You can visit your village's doctor once a day for a free cure! I'd suggest just waiting until you can go back if you've already gone today. When you go to buy a cure you'll see a % in its name, and that's what percentage chance it has to cure your villager. I was an idiot and bought one that had a 5% chance for a lot of FC. It didn't work, obviously, lol.
@Mira
Whatever village you personally like best! I joined Dragon's Maw because I like spooky things and it just sorta called to me. (-: You can have any animal you want regardless of village, so really, it won't limit you in the long run!

I'm going to quote an older post of mine to answer you here:
Insigne wrote:Kinda tough to answer that. I think it depends on what kind of item it is. You might check the sellback price but that's pretty much only accurate for raw materials.
