This is a fault on all Gathering Storms, and why, when I took him to a live show he did place, but 2nd two last and my other horse, my stablemate placed last.
That's actually not true. When a white marking reaches a hoof, that doesn't mean that the hoof has to be white. The hoof can still be gray/black. Here are some pictures:

See? Even though the leg is white, the hoof is dark.

And look at this one. The leg is dark, but the hoof is white. It's not a fault.
Your Gathering Storm proboally didn't do well because of his breed. Perhaps do some more research.

Yes, but those are pintos, they're different. Wait, is Gathering Storm a pinto? I dunno. Anyway, pintos are exceptions becasue of their odd colouring.

I have decided that I no longer want to be on Chicken Smoothie. I have become too infatuated with the site.
No, I am not giving away free pets; they will all go to the Pound or to good CS friends of mine.
Bye, CS!

Paint is a breed. Pinto is not. Pinto is a type of color - overo, sabino, and tobiano. Paint horses have pinto coloring, except crop-outs.
Gathering Storm can not be a warmblood... he must be crossed with a paint or a horse similar as warmbloods (as far as my knowledge) do not carry the pinto gene. Perhaps he could be with a lighter horse that does?
But, the point is, Gathering's Storm's gray hoof isn't a fault.

Well, I haven't seen a picture of Gathering Storm. But from what people are saying I assume he's pinto.
Yes, I knew all that- but because of their odd pigmentation, paints and pintos are exceptions.
So yeah, I guess you're right. That was kinda my point as well, lol

Really, the horse's hooves can be any color. They don't necessarily have to be gray, white, black, brown . . . I admit, it looks a bit odd, but even non pinto horses with no markings have light hooves. I guess it depends on their parents or whatnot.
Gathering Storm is a gray and white pinto on the Big Ben mold. He's glossy, too, and a real beauty... I personally don't like his vintage-style markings (blurred at the face, no mapping) but he's still cute. <3
