on average, how much time do you spend coding/making a character forum?
so...yeah.
i don't know about you guys but i always tend to spend at least two hours on one measly little forum. but then again, it's just mostly thinking of how i want to put everything together. and then i have to tweak things here and there, and then i always end up changing my mind. but then again, it might be all the little things combined that add up to hours worth. idk. is it just me or do you guys take a lot of time too?

that really depends on how detailed i want it to look, im not the best at
choosing colors so when i don't it usually takes a lot less, but normally around
an hour to an hour and a half c: that's why i re-use a lot of my forms, lol cx
@bea;; it's fabu, im proud of you because it looks so gooodddd <33

@bea that's gorgeous! the only thing is that the text box (for lack of a better
word to describe it) is too wide for my screen, so it looks like this. but my
computer's known to make things wonky so eh, you can just ignore me

I'd say anywhere between one and three hours, one hour being a bare minimum
and three hours being the amount of time it took for me to come up with some
of my more complex forms. like woodland, I spend a lot of time adjusting minor
things, which really adds up. if I have several hours to blow with nothing better
to do, I just code because I know it'll make the clock tick faster. and since I try
to come up with new techniques in each of my forms, a lot of trial and error is
involved, which, uh, also contributes to me being a total slowpoke uvu
oh, and reading reas' answer actually reminded me of a question of my own:
- Code: Select all
do you reuse your forms or do you come up with new ones for each character that you make?
do you reuse your forms or do you come up with new ones for each character
that you make? I start all of my forms from scratch with only a few exceptions
when I'll feeling spectacularly lazy. I do tend to carry over certain elements that
I think look nice (for example, the split sections on top of a body paragraph, which
I've been doing a lot lately) so they end up looking similar, which kind of defeats
the purpose of me going through all the trouble to come up with a new layout. but
I can recall a total of one time in recent history (considering I only really got into
coding a few months ago) when I directly edited an old form to fit a new character.

As I have said, I'm not much of a coder maself. I stick to simple stuff, but I do actually spend a lot more time than I think on them and some times it gets really annoying. 0.o Especially since I am generally testing out if it all works.
do you reuse your forms or do you come up with new ones for each character that you make?
scratch generally, because each picture is different, if it each picture wasn't different I might be tempted to reuse some thing or other.spiff wrote:

yep your not the only one with that problem. I's the most annoying thing with coding, it has to be perfect or it won't fit on other user's screens correctly.

well it depends on what kind of form i'm doing really. sometimes it can take me from
thirty minutes to three hours, just depending on my patience and muse for it all.
do you reuse your forms or do you come up with new ones for each character that you make?
sometimes i'll reuse parts of forms because i'm feeling much too lazy to go from scratch but as for most
times i do try to mix my forms up and make them different. again depends on how i'm feeling about it.
