I got my first Keetin too! Her name's Violet, and this is what she looks like.

I don't think directly basing keetins (or indeed any adoptable species) designs on copyrighted characters from shows or games is a good idea. Personally I think it's a little awkward to 'personalise' something which is sort of 'publicised' or can draw in one form or another, if that makes sense. Just my opinion, you're welcome to disagree.

I think I prefer more natural or original designs, perhaps even ones with accessories to make them a little more personalised. I am still keeping my eye out for another keetin like this that takes my fancy to try for

I agree with Vampiric.
The designs are cool and so on but we can't actually claim them.
They are from other shows and such and belong to the ones who created them in the first place.

Asking art of it would be... odd.
I say 'odd' because it wouldn't be fan-art of the Keetin but of the show or game it represents.

I think you need to be careful about owning a design directly based off of a copyrighted character. I don't mind it as such, but you need to make it clear your not claiming the design as your own idea.

Maybe things like just one element, say one marking, a colour pallete, or an accessory but working it into your own design instead of copying designs exactly could work but I'm not sure.

I would have to say something based off a snake or reptile.
I'm into golden snakes such as a desert lizard.

Tropical fish Keetins would be so adorable!
A beetle/insect collection would be cute - shiny beetles, maybe a firefly..
This isn't a theme, but a patchy/pinto Keetin would be so pretty (like the horse - i can get references if you need C:)
