- Just try to use it as a learning experience, not something to be sore about. Maybe try out for some as practice and try to get better at it.
Also, artists don't really look for coding; the only reason I'd look for it is for effort, but I don't nearly judge on coding specifically. I judge based on content & character development. And it doesn't have to go to waste, if you lose one, you could always just reuse the characterization for another one you like.
Also, from past issues: Please do not PM artists with reminders of dates, such as end dates or growth dates. Artists are typically aware of their growth dates.
The only exception is if that date had already passed and they clearly missed it--if an egg was set to hatch yesterday but didn't, then in that case they probably forgot and a nice, patient reminder would be fine. However, as for upcoming dates, do not send artists reminders that they're coming. It's more annoying than it is helpful.
If a comp reaches its end date and you don't see anything happening, don't pm them--undoubtedly, many others would probably do the same and it'd just be spam. Just nicely bump the thread, and if you see someone else already did it for you then don't. That's all that's needed.
If artists are being slow, please be patient; we have our own lives to attend to. I got home today at 2:40 and played with my cats in the snow, which they were seeing for the first time in their lives, and then worked on Viscets from 3 to 4:30. I spent an hour and a half of my day simply working on things around the species. I go to bed at 7:00 because I have a cold. That leaves only 2 1/2 hours to eat dinner, do my schoolwork, and actually relax.

In other notes; I've added new genes!
Really only 1 new gene, but I've changed around some others to work with it.
In the past it's been confusing as to where things would fit in the Mutation spectrum; I've been meaning to fix this but haven't gotten around to it. Mainly, hair/mane edits.
So I've separated any sort of mane edit--besides tufts/drapes--into 3 areas where they should all fit nicely and clearly.
Hair -- Something counts as Hair if it has a complete do over of all lineart and mane structure around the head and neck. This means not a minor extension of it, but a complete remake of it.
Minor Mane Extension/Minor Mane Edit: -- Something is a Minor Edit if it's just a little edit tidbit here and there. Examples would be something like a braid, where the mane structure of the mane on the head is still in-tact but it just has a small edit to it, things like an extension of the mane down the tail, or an extension of the fur on the tailtip. It's Uncommon, and is still compatible with Hair--a Viscet can have both Hair and a Minor Edit at the same time. Just because a Viscet has line edits on its head-mane doesn't mean it has Hair; if the mohawk-structure is still in place, then it's a Minor Edit.
Major Mane Extension/Edit: This was around before this and wasn't really changed much, but I'm just restating it in relation. It's a Rare gene that basically results in a complete line edit of everything, or nearly everything, on the back mane. An example would be Synthesa's crazy draping mane.
Because the Major Mane Edit is a complete makeover of all of the manes' lineart, this would include the lineart on the head and neck, so it is not compatible with the Hair or Minor Edit genes.
If you have questions as to where your Viscet's genes stand, feel free to ask! Unless you intend on breeding them, this change shouldn't really affect anything.
