Hey! Could I get some advice on romance au fanfiction writing? I frequently read romance au but I'm not really sure on how I would get started on writing one especially a longer length one. Any tips on outlining, planning, and actual content would be helpful!

you could try a zero draft!

if you don't know what that is here's what I found on google:

The idea with a zero draft is that you’re putting the barest of bones onto the page—just sketching out the ideas of plot and character and how it all fits together. Then, once you have it out of your brain and onto the page, you can go back and begin knitting all the pieces together, deciding what works and what doesn’t.

Hey everyone! I’m SparklyBonehead on Archive of our Own. I wish I had known about this club previously, would have liked to bond over Writer Troubles.

I mainly have written k-pop fanfiction, but I also have some anime and manga, DC comics and Avatar(cartoon) fanfiction up as well. None of my works have sexual content because I’m too ace for all that.

I’m currently gearing up to write a very long Smallville fic(like more than 100 chapters probably). Should be a fun pursuit for the next few years hahaha *sobbing*.

If that ain't relatable! (Though I'm not ace). But I am too old to waste my time reading bad smut. Honestly, it is just usually very poorly written and I'm very picky. Not saying that being picky is a virtue, but my degree in literature has ruined by ability to endure bad prose if the story is good.

Anyways, I have only published a single fic on AO3, and it isn't even complete yet. Usually I just read fic instead of writing it. But this time around, I had to contribute to the OFMD fandom because I felt so seen by that show. Might write some fic for Horizon Zero Dawn (both the first game, DLC, and the sequel) because ace Aloy is my jam. And I love how that game has such a wealth of wonderful minor characters to love!
