I've been wondering what the next 'Harry Potter' will be...I mean, soon something has to happen like it- a massive fanbase, films, etc. just like Lord of the Rings before it.
It's just exciting thinking that there will be something next and it might even be better than Harry Potter

Also, it's a bit depressing to look at the YA section in bookstores today. All paranormal romance and dystopian- and none of it very good, I'm afraid. Where did other genres go to?

Well, Twilight and Hunger Games were kind of like the next "Harry Potter." And the movie industry is speculating that the Mortal Instruments movie will be just as, if not more, popular than Hunger Games.

Oh gosh, they announced it?! Yay!! I'm so excited! I love those books. And I love how they are consistent on their release dates in the series. I believe all of the books have been released close to that date.

It's so depressing, I ussally end up in the adult section. But, there are a few good things ( hello the hunger games) but I really hope something becomes the next ' Harry Potter'. But as for twilight, I really hated that book. It was just a girl talking about how much she loved her sparkly vampire boyfriend. But I wouldn't call that Thr next Harry Potter.

Well, the humans are organised in 5 factions, based on their personality and beliefs. Abnegation(the Selfless), Erudite(the Intelligent), Amity(the peaceful), Candor(the Honest) and Dauntless(the Brave). Once they get 16, children choose in which faction they wish to be: the one where they were born, or one of the others. The have to go through an initiation trial to be accepted to the faction -if they don't the will be without faction, poor and abandoned. Beatrice belongs to the Abnegation faction and lives with her parents and brother. She is supposed to be selfless and only care about the others but Beatrice cannot cope with it, she can't imagine leaving a life like this. Every year, the sixteen-year-olds have to take an aptitude test, which determines the faction each is most suited for. The test is followed by a Choosing Ceremony, in which each person must decide which faction they would reside in for the rest of their lives, living under the guideline of "Faction Before Blood." Beatrice's test results show that she is a Divergent. She isn't suited only in one faction but three: Erudite, Abnegation, and Dauntless. She have to choose in which one she's going to be and when she does, she has to go through an initiation trial and try to become her new self "Tris", as she renamed herself.

Guardians of Ga'Hoole books are IMPOSSIBLE to find over here! And when I finally do find one, it's always that movie-branded version of The Capture, which I already have.

Postby SherlollyPond » Mon Feb 04, 2013 2:20 am

Been given homework the day before yesterday to 'read something'. While my friends are trying to find the smallest cereal packet, I've read two books and four manga graphic novels... I'm also in the middle of a book called 'Murkmere.' It;s good so far but nothing much has really happened in the eyes of the viewer- she is really superstitious so it's a lot to the main character, but.... it's improving.
My kitten is a complete disappointment- she seems intent on destroying every book I read whilst never taking her eyes ofF the TV! *SIGH* Cats.
Anyway... My friend wants me to go to the cinema to watch life of Pi but we've also heard 'Parental Guidance' is good - any advice?
I should probably read life of pi- it's 20p on the kindle store but it just doesn't strike me as the sort of book I'd enjoy.
(Generally films from books are the bane of my life, but life of pi sounds like one of those few rare phenomena of a film that's better that a book... anyways, if anyone's seen either of them, please let me know what you think.
I was on the game a year or so ago, I have come back to you all though! I will have to make a new sig at some poin.
Current favorite books : The fault in our stars and the book thief
