I've recently fallen completely in love with a Norwegian rock band called Kråkesølv.
Their music isn't really anything I'd listen to normally, and I don't think I'd like them if it hadn't been for the fact that I saw them live. They happened to be playing in town, and I saw them. And I am just totally speechless; because their music felt so real, and so honest. And what an energy. I loved how they seemed so confident in what the did, and they really have a passion for the music.

I'm so bummed right now. My earphones broke, and I have no money to buy new ones... I was halfway through listening to a System song as well :c Probably gonna have to see if there are any spare ones lying around the house. Maybe find my brother's old ones.

I find it weird how I learned some things about Tiananmen Square in school yesterday, then I found the lyrics to Hypnotize by System Of A Down in a youtube video when I got home... I should probably show Hypnotize to the teacher next week, since we're learning a lot about China in modern studies :p I told my friend in a message thing, dunno if they found it or not.

I sort of learned Know, B.Y.O.B., Chop Suey!, Psycho and Deer Dance on my guitar, I can pretty much play Chop Suey! and B.Y.O.B. but I have to work on getting faster at playing B.Y.O.B. xD

wake up the souls thread xD

My brother tore off one side of my earbuds after he tried to steal them right out of my computer. Now my right ear is lonely, and my brother needs new speakers for his computer after I tossed them out a window. Hey, he started it.

I managed to wreck two pairs... Well, technically it's not my fault, since my pockets are only big enough to fit my phone in its giant case. I swear it must be twice as thick with that thing on. There's never enough room to put earbuds in my pockets, because my phone takes up all the space in the one pocket and I have my keys and stuff in the other one. So I have to stuff my earbuds in next to my phone in the little amount of space left in the pocket so it ends up tugging the cable out of the thing that plugs into my phone. I'd managed to pull the right side's cable out first so I had to put the left earbud in my right ear (occasionally upside down as well) but the cable for the left side fell out when I was playing my tablet the other day. My other ones have decided to fray at the bottom, I'm wondering how long they'll last since I left my tablet on my bed and jumped off but I had the cable for the earbuds hooked around my foot. The things flew onto the floor. They still work ok, but the bottom probably won't last as long now xD

That sucks! And, I just got the best new album too! I have another pair of headphones that works, but they're connected to my MP3 player, which I'm having a heck of a time trying to find at the moment. It either grew legs and walked away, or one of my roommates took it and won't cough it up. Until I find it though, or bust the culprit who has it, my opposite ear will always be lonely. <T-T>

Pretty much all I've got anymore is my music. I can't draw anymore because of my sight impairment, and I can't write as well as I used to, although I'm fine if I've got a good computer keyboard. I ordered a braille one off ebay, and it's really been helping me out a lot. Anyway, music is what I've been focusing more on. I can still drum blind, considering I've memorized my 40 piece kit, and I can play guitar still. You don't typically look at an instrument while you play it. It definitely took some getting used to, I tell you what, but I can still do my music. That's pretty much all I care to do anymore. Hard rock and I have never been so close.

Unfortunately my recent surgery did not work to restore my sight. I haven't given up. I go back for surgery either later this summer or this fall.

The artwork in my signature was a gift from my dear friend ~Griffin. She only has a PC mouse to work with, but even though I can't see it (yet), I'm sure it looks just as good as anything digital. :)

I share computers with my roommate ~Griffin. We don't trade unfairly, and we obey CS rules. She and my other roommate help me navigate around the site, and read things to me and such, but she does not control my account, and neither does the other. Please don't ban me, or her. :)

"Hey guys, guess who was at a rock festival last night? Yep, that's right ; I spent 7 hours at the biggest rock festival in my area. It had to be one of the best nights in my entire life! The headliners were Godsmack and Slipknot, but there were lots of good bands before them too. I just have to tell you about it all!"

Disclaimer;; You don't have to read all of it if you don't want to, so I put it in a code box!

    Code: Select all
General Experience;; "I had planned on getting there around 5:00 or 5:15, allowing me and my family to park and get in shortly before Breaking Benjamin. However, we misjudged traffic and the time to park. Parking only took a couple minutes, and we were in one of the last available lots. So, we got in around 4:00. Oops! While some of the lesser bands that we didn't plan on seeing were on, we stood in the merchandise line for T-shirts and got food and drinks. I walked under the mist tent to stay cool for a minute or so while waiting for the rest of my family to get closer to the front. Just a day before, I said that the funnel cakes at the farmer's market would be the last of the season. Boy, was I proven wrong! Got a nice thick funnel cake and drank several bottles of water there. Then we laid down a blanket in the middle of the venue. Overall, best concert experience ever!"

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The Bands!

The Vamps;; This was the first band we saw, and I did not intend on seeing them. However, they were actually pretty good....after figuring out whether the singer was a girl or boy. It was overall a great performance by them!

In This Moment;; Didn't intend on seeing them either, nor would I intend on seeing them again. At least not on purpose! It was by far my least favorite music wise. They do get some extra points though, for one main thing ; smoke! On their last song, when smoke shot up from the stage, they had my full undivided attention! They also played the intro of For Whom The Bell Tolls, which also got my attention.

The Pretty Reckless;; Ah, the most surprising part of the afternoon! The minute one of their songs comes on the radio, I immediately shut it off. Unless it's the song Bring Me to Life or Broken, I naturally tend to dislike female rock singers. To my surprise, they were actually remarkably good live. Not as weird as In This Moment, with a better sounding voice too. And my parents, like me, adore that one heavy guitar intro to a particular song of theirs!

    ------------

Breaking Benjamin;; This was the first band I intended to see, and they put on an amazing performance! They did a good mix of new and old tracks. Most of the songs I sang along to part of the lyrics. After all, who doesn't know their most popular tracks? Some of my favorite songs were Breakdown and Diary of Jane. The best part was the tremendous effort they made in cooling everyone down on a hot day. They hosed down the crowd and threw free water bottles fresh out of their cooler. I can bet you that one of the bottles was fought over ; Ben was thirsty, so he drank a sip before throwing it out to the crowd. Everyone would want to get their grubby hands on the one with 'Benjamin Slobber' as I like to call it!

Papa Roach;; One of my two favorite bands of the night ; the other being Slipknot. Sang along to Between Angels and Insects and Last Resort, and probably to Face Everything and Rise too. It was the first band that made me jump, scream, head-bang, and wave my hands in the air! My mother said it was like I was drunk when I almost fell onto her a couple times. Like my language, I don't like drinking. I kinda, sorta accidentally dropped the s-bomb in the chorus of Between Angels and Insects as well. *blushes* Yeah, that was the first time I actually said a swear word like that. I'm not usually a curser ; I do my best to make sure I'm clean in the language department. It just slipped. Go on, I give you guys full permission to say that Diamond's got a potty-mouth.

The band was by far the best with the crowd out of the bunch. Jacoby Shaddix is not only a hottie [I need to make my mother reconsider calling Breaking Benjamin's drummer that], but he's really fun in concert. He was more than happy to jump right into the crowd, sing with the crowd, and even give acknowledgement to the camera-man! I can't even describe how excited he was to be on stage, other than the fact that he was actively jumping around on that stage! And they had the best time ever for their set -- Jacoby said the official farewell to the sun, and they were the first band able to use their stage lights!

Godsmack;; Although Sully wasn't the best with the crowd, their music was spectacular. Although I prefer their older stuff to their newer stuff, they still ranked pretty high on my list. My favorite song was absolutely Voodoo, but my second favorite had to be Batalla de los Tambores. Simply translated, it means battle of the drums. In other words, it was one huge drum solo! We thought they would've done The Oracle, but we thought wrong. The drums literally came out to the center of the stage for Shannon and Sully to play that song! They mixed in some drum work from the best drummers in history, particularly Creeping Death. [I just had to chant to myself the lyrics to that one!] They had confetti right at the end, too. Great performance, but I was glad that I wasn't at the front of the stage. Otherwise, I would be taking bathes and showers to wash the beer out of my hair and my clothes would be ruined.

Sully was throwing beers into the crowd, and he certainly wasn't gentle like Ben was with the water bottles. He was literally throwing full cups of ice cold beer from their own cooler! No, they didn't have lids on them. Those people standing right near the front must've been getting drenched with the beer. [Raining Beer...isn't that a Slayer song? [actually, it's raining blood -- it sounds similar though!]]

Slipknot;; These guys started several minutes late ; I was about to go 'Psychosocial' just waiting for them! But the wait was well worth it. Unlike previous bands, the minute Papa Roach left the stage, a curtain was hung in front of the stage during Godsmack. Now I know why. They had the most spectacular stage set-up I have ever seen. I wished you guys were there with me! They had a full back-drop, a walkway with pyrotechnics half way up the stage's height, pyrotechnics on the stairs leading up to that walkway, these two percussionists on rotating platforms that lifted up to the walkway, and the most amazing lighting ever. If I had to chose between seeing Christmas lights and seeing Slipknot lights, I'd gladly choose Slipknot! Lights hung everywhere, and huge white strobe lights made it look like the dark grey night sky was streaked with white.

Corey Taylor put on quite the show, playing all my favorites and some new songs. I would've jumped around for more than the first couple songs, but I was seriously out of it at that point. I stayed until the very end, and I had just enough energy to jump around during the last song. After all, he did say to crouch down and jump when he said jump the *insert swear word here* up! After that, we left during the encore.

A Final Note;; We didn't here a single plane, despite being near the airport. There was apparently too many strobe lights for planes to be flying overhead!

@The Lone Twin -- There's braille keyboards? Hope I don't sound too dumb asking that. Anyways, that's really amazing! Keep in mind from now on, every time you play, that I support you!
@Street Soldier and Griffin -- Yowch! That really does stink. Hope you guys get new earbuds soon! I prefer headphones or my pink speaker though ; maybe one of those wont break as easily?

"One last thing ; have any of you heard of the new album by Stone Sour, Meanwhile in Burbank? If not, you've gotta hear the album. It's an album of covered songs from other bands. I've heard both We Die Young [Alice in Chains] and Creeping Death [Metallica -- cue Orion coming into the thread...Orion, that's your cue!]"

@Diamonshine101
I'm so jealous! That sounds like so much fun. I've never actually been to a concert like that before (or any actual rock concerts in general) and it makes me want to go to one even more now xD
I guess I'll just have to keep watching videos of live performances... :p

Ohhhh man
On Thursday/Friday, I stayed up until three in the morning watching the video of System Of A Down playing live in Yerevan. I missed the livestream by a few hours, but the video was on the article linked on System's website. I only got four hours of sleep that night, but it was totally worth it because the video was made private the next day. I wish I could have been there, but plane costs and age stuff :/
