I am excited for Ayato now! I like his design, and him being a confirmed Hydro is a welcome surprise to me. One theory I have heard for how he may work (which I wouldn't mind seeing) is something mirroring Childe. We have lore on Ayato already stating he's good with both a polearm and a sword, and someone theorized he may have a switch like Childe does for his skill. However, switching like with Raiden's burst only would also be very cool. Either way, I will probably try and pull for him, if only to itch that completionist scratch :'D

Ayato looks cool, yeah. I might put him in the same team as his sister Ayaka at some point. Until then she and Childe work together as a GREAT DPS duo! I really would like Yae as well. She looks cool

There's some new neat stuff to see on the Genshin YT channel, including a new concert. I'll have a watch on that sometime later. Their last big concert was awesome! I was both amazed and very amused that Voiceplay, an Acapella group I like very much, was invited to have a part in this. LOL, my thoughts in reaction were, "WHAT?! Voiceplay's in this concert?? How did MiHoYo know I like them?!"

I got Ganyu on the EU server finally! Now I can focus on saving for Yoimiya on the American server and stop worrying about farming primos on EU.

Seeing Ayato's final design has made it concrete that I won't be pulling on him. I've decided to be extra picky with characters until Yoimiya has a confirmed rerun banner. I might do a few pulls on Yae considering I'm on 50/50 and low pity but other than that I'm staying strong.

i've been waiting for ayato's official design release since september & i'm actually pretty pleased w it!! <3 i'm actually a fan of his suit because i assume his goal is to look like a noble of the kamisato clan but simultaneously "businessman-like" & considering that he canonically has another outfit like ayaka's (the one displayed at the kamisato house), i'm not complaining whatsoever. he seems like the perfect embodiment of what we've heard about his personality so far— making thoma eat weird food, pulling tricks at tri-commission affairs but getting away with them because the shogun still tolerates him, and hanging out with itto.

i have him guaranteed & have been saving wishes since i lost the 50/50, so i'm currently at 25/90 wishes & hopefully should be able to save enough by 2.6, when he drops!! <33

I love the Ayato design! I will admit there were a few fan renditions I liked a bit more, but basing expectations on fanart will almost always lead to disappointment. I bet Heizou will be the same whenever he comes out, which don't be soon pls I need to start saving again after Ayato thank you <3 (and possibly every other character that's been hyped to this extent)

I'm gonna spend most if not all of 2.5 farming for him with probably a few expectations. Itto is at lvl 85 and I want to get him to 90, and I thought my designated Ayato friendship team would be Ayato, Thoma (do not separate) Aloy (the newest project im farming for now to replace Keqing soon for the rest of 2.4) and Sayu, but its starting to look like Sayu will get max friendship before 2.6 since she's lvl 7 now. I'm not sure if I want to build someone alongside Ayato, or just focus on him🤷‍♀️

I'd honestly bet on Heizou being a 4*, if he's a 5* and actually has a design I like though then I guess I'll go for him cause Yoimiya rerun then eventual Itto rerun are my only goals and Itto probably won't get a rerun for a while.

Edit: Also, is it me but does Mihoyo seem to be upping their 4* designs but making steadily more underwhelming 5* designs? Shenhe is pretty but I'm honestly disappointed that she's basically Ganyu 2.0 in both her outfit and closeness to Cloud Retainer, and Ayato seriously looks like an NPC to me (Ao, anyone?).

Hopefully this is just a slight phase and Ayato will look better in-game but for now I'm left with relatively low hopes for the future of Genshin 5* designs with how desperately they have been trying to make the characters relevant to one another.

I can see where you're coming from on both points.

I imagine part of it is trying to make "unique" characters means you'll get a bit on both ends of the spectrum, honestly. I have enjoyed the designs, but I may just be easy to please XD I can see where people may not like Ayato or Shenhe's designs (they are a bit simpler than a lot of others in the roster), and they may just be in a weird spot designwise... sort of like how Pokemon is; there does reach points where in testing the waters, you'll get some duds.

I'm probably going to try and pull for Miko and Ayato, if only to be a "completionist" for the roster, but I probably won't raise Miko. I am not a fan of catalyst's playstyle in general. I like whacking things

I get what you mean, but for me its animation instead of design. I don't think there's a design I don't like (besides maybe Yanfei, but I've said already that I want her to be more than a bikini layer haha. Her design is cute! But outfit is a bit of a miss for me) But yea, If the animations are cool, that's usually my deciding factor. Thoma's animations are amazing and why I built him physical DPS to see them all the time, Itto's animations show off his wild power and carefree attitude, and is as close to the "swing around great sword easily with one hand" shtick I'm really looking for we currently have. Can Varka do that MHY? Or maybe when we finally get that switch port, Ike could be the Nintendo rep. Probably weird choice out of all the options, but he's the reason I want that style lmao

Shenhe's animations for me were way too floaty looking, and even though I know "effortless grace" was supposed to be her "Thing" I didn't like how she looked detached from the ground (3rd AA, charged atk recovery for example) That and her not being cloud retainer were the nail in the coffin for me to want to skip, even though shes an amazing support haha

he's like Zhongli and Kazuha combined with Ayaka's colour palette. He has the sort of "princely" vibes you'd expect from his sort of character while maintaining inspiration from Japanese traditional clothing. I'm especially excited to see how his sleeves move in-game.

And gotta disagree on the underwhelming 5 star designs. Itto is one of if not my top favourite 5 star design. Gorou is a perfectly suitable 4 star design, not too flashy but not underwhelming. Shenhe also has a lot of unique design elements, my favourite being her headpiece. She's obviously supposed to be very close to Cloud Retainer given all the crane-like elements of her design and adopted blues/whites. Her character kinda came out of left field but she's definitely not just a copy-paste. Yoimiya is great design-wise, love her. Raiden could be better but she's fine. Really love her long braid. I think Sayu is underwhelming while Yun Jin is great but they both suit being 4 star designs.

But idk not every 5 star design can be an Itto or a Kokomi. Looking at some of the older 5 stars I'm very happy for them going back to just normal clothes like Diluc or Albedo, even Klee has pretty normal clothes and nothing too flashy, Zhongli too. Imo Ayato is one of the flashiest 5 star designs. I think if there was less white in his outfit it'd be better, and maybe the dark gold brightened a bit? Yeah looking at him more I think his colour palette is really bringing down his overall design.

@∑Siebren I'm so mad I missed out on Thoma and Itto on my main heavily because of their normal attack animations. They're so cool

Where Ayato looks like an NPC to me is honestly his hair and outfit that is FAR too white for me. I think Mihoyo has a bad habit of only making male characters flashy in their torsos but leaving everything else rather blank-feeling if that makes sense? He reads as the blue oni NPC for me where they just gave him the privilege of some special markings and an outfit.

Also, when I was referring to underwhelming chatacter designs, I meant Shenhe and Ayato. If you'd properly read my post you'd realize that I have no issues with the other recent additions.

I also agree that animations are a big part of characters! I ADORE Kokomi for her healing and burst DPS capabilities but her animations feel too floaty at times for me and can honestly be rather distracting.

As for the recent 4*, I think their outfits have honestly been improving? I'm in LOVE with Yunjin and Gorou's designs, as well as their animations.
