Her sister Teyha followed her only a week after her death.
I have no idea what happened to Teyha. She was 100% healthy until after her sister died, then she started weazing and sneezing so I sent her to the vet and they said she had phenomia, but that it wasn't EVEN THAT BAD. She became very sad and weak, I literally had to help her drink water, and most importantly.. she stopped eating. She starved herself. I honestly think she wanted to die. Whether she died from dehydration, phenomia, starvation, or even a broken heart.. I don't know. But it just baffles me how fast she spiraled down in a week.
I stayed with her until midnight but it was a school night so I went to bed, and I think she passed shortly after.
So.. I'm officially ratless.. and I don't think I'll be getting more. I love them so much but they're with you for such a short amount of time and well.. I love my animals too much and get way too upset over these kinds of things to handle any more.
I'll probably still stalk this thread though!

I have two boys who aren't brothers but have lived together for a good while, and I think they are fighting.
So whenever I take Bria out and stroke him I always find these bloody scabs dotting his neck and back, I also find the same on Smoky.
I really don't know what to do. I've separated them when it's their feeding time, but I really don't think it's going to make a difference. Plus when I put Bria back into the cage, Smoky came down and they sort of had a stand off. It began with Smoky approaching Bria, there were two loud squeaks (I'm unsure of which rat they came from) before Smoky started to roughly groom Bria's neck. There was more squeaking so I separated them. However the stand off continued until they finally stopped.
I know this is for dominance, but I feel I need to do something about it. It would break my heart to permanently separate them as they do get along most of the time (and it's so sweet when they sleep together!). I know I could nurture them, it's just that's pretty expensive plus I don't really think it's right.
So what's you advice? Please help and thanks for reading
