They are both female c:

@resfeber

Thank you!
I named the little gal on the right, her name is Alice, but I still can't think of a name for the other one. I'm debating between a few.

Soo.. probably two and a half weeks ago maybe more.. I told you guys Delilah had been put down.
Her sister Teyha followed her only a week after her death.
I have no idea what happened to Teyha. She was 100% healthy until after her sister died, then she started weazing and sneezing so I sent her to the vet and they said she had phenomia, but that it wasn't EVEN THAT BAD. She became very sad and weak, I literally had to help her drink water, and most importantly.. she stopped eating. She starved herself. I honestly think she wanted to die. Whether she died from dehydration, phenomia, starvation, or even a broken heart.. I don't know. But it just baffles me how fast she spiraled down in a week.
I stayed with her until midnight but it was a school night so I went to bed, and I think she passed shortly after.
So.. I'm officially ratless.. and I don't think I'll be getting more. I love them so much but they're with you for such a short amount of time and well.. I love my animals too much and get way too upset over these kinds of things to handle any more.
I'll probably still stalk this thread though!

i only have 3 rats now, with one having tumors all over her (3 large ones so far) shes the brother of the 2 males that died, shes 20 months old approx, i have a 8 month old female and a 2 yr old female

Mocha, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't possibly fathom loosing my recent two mischiefs. It's just a hard thing to wrap my mind around, the fact that they would diminish from my life. It's a heart-shattering thought, and I've endured many losses of eleven rats and God knows how many other animals. Being in the rescue business, this is life, but it is even worse when you're dealing with the animal that you fell in love with and was with until their last day. It's just a difficult concept to grasp when a life finally slips away. I know your pain is searing, hun. I express my deepest sorrows from the bottom of my heart.

I saw a picture one day that a dearly beloved friend sent me wen an animal passed away several months, maybe a year or two ago. A dog, one I had nursed as a baby and this was one of those special, amazing animals that you cant express in words how much you love them with your entire heart. I can't exactly recall what it said, but it was the story of a family, narrated by a veterinarian, and a young boy. They had a very old dog who fell ill due to cancer. Their only choice was to put him down. The young boy was very young, but his parents decided to let him watch. To their dismay, he didn't seem sad. He was sorrowful, yes. But not.. Distressed. When the vet and the adults struck up a conversation, wandering aloud why dogs had such a short life, the boy, who was quietly taking in all this information, suddenly piped up. "I know why," He said. "You know how humans learn how to be good people over the years, to be honest and loyal and kind?" The adults, clearly intrigued, nod. "Dogs already know how to do this. That's why they don't need to live a long."

I really hope I captured the story well. I mean, that's not word for word, only my remembrance but hopefully you understand the meaning. I see this with rats as well. Yes, they have such short lifespans. But such an amazing animal doesn't need that long to live. They've already got all they need. They aren't as stubborn as us humans, who take a full odd ninety years to get our priorities straight. These rats, yes, the dear animals misjudged by so many people who are the most amazing, beautiful, personable creatures don't need as long to discover who they are. And with every rat, they steal a piece of your heart and in return, replace it with the humility, gentleness, and lovingkindness that only a rat can give.

It's amazing the bonds animals can show. They really are amazing when you sit back and soak it all in. How an animal can love it's friend so much that when one passes away, they are so ill-stricken that they physical as well as mentally wither away. It's a sad fact. A fact that grips my heart with icy talons, but something beautiful.

I hope you get through this. I know you will, love. Just stay strong. And please continue to stalk us. :)

So I got a little rat buddy for Sonny. And I decided not to breed her. Spaidar- the new baby girl, is young. About 11 weeks old. She still has the baby face and very cotton like fur. She's adorable. Sonny took to her right away.
I draw origonal art of... Kiamara's and JBDs. I'm really good. I really want a fluffy, folded eared JBD. (: I draw art of her all of the time, just without markings.

shebawolf wrote:Okay, I need some ratty advice...

I have two boys who aren't brothers but have lived together for a good while, and I think they are fighting.

So whenever I take Bria out and stroke him I always find these bloody scabs dotting his neck and back, I also find the same on Smoky.
I really don't know what to do. I've separated them when it's their feeding time, but I really don't think it's going to make a difference. Plus when I put Bria back into the cage, Smoky came down and they sort of had a stand off. It began with Smoky approaching Bria, there were two loud squeaks (I'm unsure of which rat they came from) before Smoky started to roughly groom Bria's neck. There was more squeaking so I separated them. However the stand off continued until they finally stopped.

I know this is for dominance, but I feel I need to do something about it. It would break my heart to permanently separate them as they do get along most of the time (and it's so sweet when they sleep together!). I know I could nurture them, it's just that's pretty expensive plus I don't really think it's right.

So what's you advice? Please help and thanks for reading

How old are they? If they are just maturing (e.g. teenagers) then they will have small fights in order to sort out who is dominance. I used to find small wounds on my newer boys when they went through those years but thy have matured and it doesn't happen anymore.

Squeaking doesn't always mean pain. This site may be help full with rat chat: Clicky.

I wouldn't separate them unless they are at each-other constantly.
Separating them could make it worst because they need to put a hierarchy in order to get along when they get older, if you stop them doing that then they will fight more and it will become more brutal.
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

Would anyone be interested in rat harnesses? I make custom rat harnesses and leashes. They are 100% adjustable, and slip proof if put on correctly.

Let me know if your interested or have any questions and I will link you to my facebook page.

Oh, I am definitely interested midnight! I'm always on the lookout for new rat harnesses, as some rats do better in others and I always seem to come to a problem with certain rats not liking certain harnesses and such.

How much are they? c:
