@kaju: gosh waverly is SO talented I’ve seen the flock of fable enjoyers ordering many pieces from them and honestly they do a stunning job on drawing all these gorgeous fables!! I think shinigami is one of the best designs out there and they totally nailed it!
@melonbread: that art is amazing, if you ever open commissions for fables I definitely want one your art is just so stunning! the pose and everything about that piece from the colour to the anatomy is just perfect!

Hi everyone, it's so exciting to see how much this community has grown!!

I'm here to belatedly introduce my newest fable Mordecai, he's a collector of seemingly unrelated objects, but has an obsession with how items relate to time. He can be a bit on the colder side but has good character.

I'd love to find him a partner for a twin breeding, preferably a design with wings but it's not a must!

I finally finish the most recent school term so I can do some fable stuff again yay!
I'm so out of practice doing actual art so working up some small doodles for now. Here's one of Ichor napping!

Congrats everyone on the recent fables and I love seeing all the art people have of their Fables!
I adore all the character building, makes me want to write more for mine and the artists are knocking it out of the park with these gorgeous designs.

I got a few more beans since my last post so going to share my cohort of Fables again + the newbies!
Writing them out I'm realizing I have a love of names starting with T and including a, i, l apparently haha

Taxila - Grumpy older guy who collects rocks, gems, and colourful bugs and wants to be left to his business. Sire of Ichor accidentally. Wandered into the nursery to look for a certain type of winter-gem and stayed long enough the magic took effect.
Ichor - Gentle mute messenger who dimensional hops and bring fun rocks and gems back for Taxila. Loves to travel and barely stays still, is well-known as the best interdimensional messenger.
Yavana - Local witch who loves to give terrible directions on purpose and has a mushroom garden. Her arch-enemy is a neighbour's goat who will not stop eating her garden, laundry, and ruining her fires.
Tallis - Spunky adventurer who likes to pick up odd jobs and often finds herself in awkward situations. Guardian of Horse Valley, it is well known that horses captured from this place are stronger, swifter and have infinite stamina. They are also smarter and do not tolerate fools.
Twilla - Can speak to reptiles, slapped an arboreal snake with her big ol ears who turned out of be a reptile god and so she was cursed to understand their speech specifically so the slapped individual could curse her out. She doesn't think its a curse and actually loves it.

I love how active this fanclub, I adore all the lore and relationships people have of their fables. There are some simply stunning artist part of this community and I love whenever a new fable pops up. On that note I'd like to introduce my fables and some of my planned lore! It is word heavy so feel free to just skip to fable intros if you want!

I've decided to keep it simple for my fable and only centre around 1 world, I usually have quite alot of aus but sometimes I lose track of everything so I'm going to make things easy for myself. Keep in mond everything is still in development! My world is divided into 3 areas, the darklands, lowlands and highlands.

Darklands: a place of those of mixed race - have features that don't fit into the angel or demon category/are a mix of the two. Often blessed by elemental spirits who become their lifelong companions, those without a spirit are usually still aligned to a element and this influences their job/skills (Eg. Fire aligned often are good blacksmiths/crafter, Plant aligned are often good at healing/medicine etc).

Lowlands: a place of those aligned more to those without powers, more of a farming/sword fighting/olden time society. Often group in various villages and dont steep out from thier areas. Thus can cause issues when a elemental/high class child is born, they are often shunned/treated as outcasts.

Highlands: more of a class system, those with great powers and those with weaker powers, within these there is more dark or light aligned powers (eg. Curses vs Healing). Power is everything families hold no powers and everything is based off of strength making this area more fought with fighting between those wishing to be the best.

Introductions

Oculos

A stunning fable my the wonderful SaltyBirb. I've positioned them as a highland born fable. They are more dark aligned in that they see visions and are followed around by a mysterious being (unknown yet if it is real/a figment of their imagination/a curse). They are from a long line of light aligned fables so cover up their abilities with their high intelligence aiming the family in many areas of trade, war and personal interactions.

Shinzo

A stunning fable made by Ilya. Their accessories are just perfect! Another highland born fable, they are a ice aligned fable with slight skills in other areas such as light and plant fields. They were born into a war family and will carry on the line, they are not intellectually inclined rather thrive in battle and with their small abilities in light/plant allow them to heal themself in battle. Their ice powers are their main fighting ability though!


I've also made a little avatar piece of Oculos which I'm super happy with, I'm going to try and keep up with making one for each of my fables! I may make this a ych later on!

@boogiebug thank you! and your new fable is super pretty; the little facial features are so charming! I've got some stuff in the comms queue to work on, but I'll probably open them up again soon-ish c: maybe I should make an actual oekaki art shop to track ;;

congrats to everyone in general for any new fables ^^ they're all stunning designs; I overwhelmingly enter for more of these than any other and sometimes think I should knock it off, but every new design is just 👀 ouh.... Love reading all the entries and then the further development in here too!

for my part, I've been thinking about and gradually putting together the lore for my fables and the world they live in (yapping incoming). It's a sort of post-post-apocalypse, in the sense that a long, long time ago the world was steeped in powerful and wonderful magic, but some sort of war or catastrophe wiped out almost everything from that time... and now civilization is slowly creeping back into the world, mostly in the form of small settlements connected by only a few charted paths and safe zones, with everything in between considered dangerous wilderness cursed by the ashes of old magic.

For my fables themselves, I'm thinking about a concept where individuals that are singularly devoted to or embody a certain concept or cause (like a D&D paladin, sort of?) kind of attract old magic and end up having longer lifespans and being more able to safely navigate uncharted wilds, and there are all these superstitions about them and what they do. I'll have to write it all down more eloquently somewhere! Like toyhouse, once I uh, learn how to use toyhouse ._. or I give up and make a thread here on CS, lol

all that said, I'd love to introduce/reintroduce my current two!

Perrin is a benevolent and mild-mannered, though reclusive, necromancer that lives out at the far edge of a deep wood. He and his little crew of skeletons maintain the road at night, making sure it's safe, the signs are all clear and legible, any camp sites are clean, etc.. By day he sleeps, tends the graveyard, or sits by the window drinking tea and watching the trees.

Bellamy is a mysterious, but mostly friendly wanderer in the Silver Desert—a famously dangerous place warped by magic, but also the only way to get to one of the world's few cities by land. He often approaches travelers to ask for a bit of food, and tells them a story in exchange. For most, he'll try to make sure they get through safely, but those who are especially unpleasant toward him might find themselves tricked away from the safe road.... He's got a mostly kind heart, but he can be rather vengeful and a bit mischevious.

I'm still thinking about how I want to draw Bellamy's fable form, but I'm a huge sucker for gijinkas, so I tried to sketch their tentative humanoid forms :'D Perrin's sectoral heterochromia is super cute but it's just a teeny little spot at this scale, I kind of wish I'd drawn them both bigger, hah
