Sorry, that's the only way without buying a cure. And its easier to wait since most doctors out there don't have enough resources to make effective medicine. I'm not sure if the sicknesses go away with time. Sorry I can't be much help.

You're going to have to ask players that chose Dragon's Maw Manor and see if anyone has a doctor.
As you can see in this guide, certain illnesses are contracted depending on which town you chose.

I have three villagers right now, a hyena, a bat, and a snake! I'm hoping to get painties of the hyena and bat into my fursonas some day soon. They're in animal husbandry, exploring, and herbalism respectively.
I'm saving up for my next villager which I'll make into another explorer. My kids keep getting sick every other hour so I'm just letting them be sick for now; it's getting to be kind of a pain in the butt. :V

There are two different currencies; FC and FD. FC, fur cash, is earned by selling items. If you're an explorer, you can sell all of the stuff you find either in the 'sellback' option or in your user shop, called a stall. FD, fur dollars, is bought with real money. The rate is 1$:100 FD. (-:
