My cons have been and gone, and cosplay isn't even a big part of one of them, it's more grown up discussion and writing.
All I have is the local Armageddon expo which is in the middle of the year, there are a ton of cosplayers at that. though there aren't panels on cosplay, its more QnA panels with actors from TV and movies.
the rest of the year is dotted with random meet ups and hang outs that oppertunities to cosplay.

Like for example the pokemon themed zoo trip coming up in a couple months.

Sooo, my mom bought me a black dress as a base for my Blair costume. We have to
A. Find a way to make it poofy
B. HOW DO I GETZ SUCH CURLY FEET //shot
we're going to cut the bottom spiky-like and put white there. Also, we're going to buy a wig{my hair isn't purple ^^'} and I'm not sure how to curl it like Blair's..;-;
Also probably cutting stretchy black pants into the arm things she wears...
but I don't know if we have enough time, or if it'll come out right or...;-;

petticoats can make a dress more poofy, or a hoop skirt,
and youtube has tutorials on how to do stuff like curl wigs.

Just Got the A ok from my mum, that i'm allowed to use the sewing machine.

my only problem now is that i have no idea who i actually want to be. I don't want to wear a wig or contacts but can buy a wig if necessary. Anyway I have shoulder length mousy brown hair and Green/blue/grey eyes ( Sort of like this, only lighter )

Anyone have any suggestions of who i could be?
Also as a note, this would be my first cosplay so please don't suggest anything too difficult
My birthday is Today ; 23/12

Okay
My first major cosplay project was THIS
but I'm not gonna make you do something like that.
My first actual cosplay was fluttershy from MLP. Which I made from stuff I had lying around the house for the most part.

The best advice I can give you is

Find a character you like, that has a more casual outfit and start there, That is my suggestion because I don't know what shows/games/books/movies/anime you like well because I am not you.

Yui Hirasawa, Ritsu Tainaka - They are both characters from K-on and my I planned to do them but I'm lazy ;-;
I started as Konata Izumi and I failed like crazy, I was stupid and bought my wig off of Ebay and my Outfit from Milanoo

Are we allowed to post pictures of the cosplay if our faces are cut/blooped out? Just a wonder. Not like I'm going to, I was just wondering. ^u^
